Backup Cam 2023 992? Is it possible it’s this bad ?

man, beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. Granted i haven't seen cameras of too many other luxury cars, but i think it's pretty great. The surround view does a great job of placing obstacles in the 360 appropriately, so getting in and out of my garage, which is a bit tight, is a breeze. I'm not watching movies on it, but I can see everything pretty clearly.
My 2024 acura's surround view absolutely sucks in comparison. I test drove an Audi Sq 5 and don't remember that one being much of any different or better. Supposedly MBs are great but don't know.

Pretty certain surround view gives you better quality cameras. There's no way anyone could look at the standard one and not grimace

Multiple car household (audi, Volvo, Toyota, etc)
23 992 GTS Cam is abysmal quality - have played with settings. I am old and blind so have mercy - I need a good camera 📷.
Is there a setting trick or is it just a thing I should have my dlr look at next service Interval?

Ok......My 2024 T back up camera is great, seriously. No issues at all with it, now my 2023 Defender was HORRIBLE. I wonder if they're using different camera lenses on some cars, kinda like the differences between which tires our cars comes with, luckily mine came with Michelins.
EDIT: just noticed post #18 above. I do have surround view. Is that why my camera quality is better?

I see (very much) a generational shift in Porsche Ownership on Rennlist. Not that it's a bad thing, it's just evident.
Us older guys that have been driving 911's for decades don't much care how good the backup camera is, or how well the phones connect, or how the bluetooth and maps are compared to some Lexus/Acura/Hyundai. We tend to really focus on the analog driving experience, and many of us want three-pedal cars. We know what Porsche does and doesn't to, and forgive them for their electronic sins with every snick of the shift lever and the hand-of-God braking into a corner. We are dinosaurs, and would be perfectly happy in a 911 from 1970 with its crappy 1-speaker radio that we don't turn on anyways. We never wrapped our cars in plastic and usually drove with the windows down because a lot of older 911's had no air conditioning.
The torch passes to the younger generation, who want a place for their vaping device, the ability to stream all their music and rely on cameras rather than looking over your shoulder. You want quieter cars with more insulation the better to talk on your phones and spend $ 5,000 for someone to coat your paint job with ceramics when we use wax. It's a different generational lifestyle with cars, to be sure.

I wouldn't complain about the backup camera or the stereo if the the cheapest version of the 911 didn't cost $120k. I have 3 sub $50k cars that have better equipment in both areas. An M3 at half the cost of my 911 comes with a proper sound system and tech package. And the M3 is no lesser of a car from a manufacturing perspective than a 911. They're both top tier mass production cars. The extra money in the 911 is mostly in profit for Porsche with their huge margins in these cars. Just give me a stereo I can hear on the freeway

Can members with and without the surround view package post a photo of their back-up camera in use so we can see if there's actually a difference here?
That may tempt me to go for the surround view package if there's that big of a difference...

Good call. I'm interested if this is a rumor or for real

They all are far inferior to my wife’s Lexus and my previous Mercedes.
clarity and resolution are abysmal ‼️
Its like looking at a picture on 50’s tv set
