Bergvill FX HID issue

Bergvill FX HID issue
I installed a Bergvill HID V3 kit a few years back. Driving home a few days ago and I noticed the passenger low-beam was out. Thought it was strange as no warning like a faded bulb dimming/flicker etc that you typically see with a HID bulb going bad. I pulled the headlight out and couldn't see any issues with the wiring. The 15A fuse for the low-beam was good. No issue with high beam on that side. I did notice the ballast smelled quite a bit like plastic or electrical burning. Wondering if perhaps the ballast quit. I didn't have time last night to swap bulbs, but I will try that next. Anyone have issues with their V3 HID kit?

Hi guys, thank you for your patience and loyalty. We've had problems with some of our latest production batch of T-LIGHT low beam products.
We will replace faulty items without cost for the customers that thave expereinced this. We've had a couple of iterations of product changes and testing, and we are approaching a delivery of spares and new products that will work fine.
We have worked with our vendor and have spent more time than expected on the testing of the product. We want to be completely sure that they work OK before we proceed with replacements.
Cheers,
Tore

Yes, the ballast appears to be a common issue. I had the same failure a few months ago and ended up swapping ballasts from one side to the other to check that it wasn’t the bulbs, and indeed proved the ballast as the culprit.
I like the Bergville products (when they work) but he appears to have issues with quality and supply shortages. I check his website about every other day hoping they get more ballasts in stock, nothing yet. Thinking about ordering two of them for when the other ballast inevitably fails. It’s frustrating not being able to drive at night for months while stuck with an inoperative light. I guess replacing the ballasts is still cheaper than buying an all new system like Morimoto.

I also have the passenger HID low beam out on my 1998, I installed the Bergvill upgrade kit around 3 years ago.
Checked out all the fuses, connections and actually ordered two new HID bulbs from Bergvill - still no light after replacement.
I sent a message to Bergvill about this and am waiting for a reply. My suspicion is the ballast.
The led high beams are so bright that I don't want to drive with them at night so the 993 is currently daytime only.
Let's update this situation as it develops, I hope they are going to replace the component.

Bergvill T3 HID
I'm on my third set of his ballasts since December 2022. The latest pair lasted about one year before mild flickering started. None has failed fully.
Like some of you, I am on the waiting list for replacements. Tore stands behind his products although obtaining quality, reliable ballasts seems to be a particularly troublesome undertaking.

I'm also starting to see some intermittent flickering on my right side low beam light. It's not happening much yet, but at least this seems consistent with what is happening to others, so at least it's an identified problem, saving me troubleshooting.

Tore has been working on a replacement source for ballasts. My understanding is that they are in testing now. I'm waiting on replacements as mine flickered almost immediately. High beams work great though. I trust that he is diligently working to resolve this for us.

I am experiencing this as well. I stumbled across this thread a couple days ago, and then of course yesterday my passenger HID headlamp stopped working. The low beam HID's worked great from December until this weekend. Funny enough, I was reading another thread a couple weeks ago about the window switch issue, and then the very next day my windows stopped working (just a bad relay that needed to be switched out).
Needless to say - no more RL for me for awhile.

About 3 weeks ago my passenger lo-beam headlight also went out, I've tested everything and it is the ballast. I've communicated with Tore and I am waiting for the ballasts to be back in stock.
What I find interesting about these failures is, most all of these failures are on the passenger side. I'm wondering if the ballast is having a problem with heat from the oil radiator which is right below the headlight.
