Smile OT: Wineries - Niagara-On-The-Lake (October)

We have some friends visiting us from Los Angeles in mid-October. They were interested in some visiting some wineries, and would like to make a day trip out of a stop at Niagara Falls.

I'm not a wino myself, so I'm looking to see if the fine palates of Rennlist could make any suggestions for wineries to visit. I recall there was a winery owned by a PCA UCR member, but I forget which one. Thanks in advance!

Stratus has a very nice facility and the wine is pretty good as well.

Friends of ours own Westcott, a fine choice with a nice patio restaurant. Quaylus is nearby, also excellent. Lunch at Redstone on the patio is very good.
Organized Crime has the best view and wine is more affordable than most.
Takes planning but Pearl Morisette is outstanding. The restaurant is fabulous, September reservations coming up, a few spots (maybe) left for August.
They have RPM Bakery in Jordan, a breakfast/lunch spot, highly recommended.
So many more that I could recommend, what a terrific area to visit.

Pearl Morissette is indeed amazing....and worth advance booking if you want a great meal.

A good little hidden gem is Good Earth Winery. We typically go every summer, missed out last year and not yet this year.

Nice little outdoor lunch patio in the garden/vineyard. Indoor available too. Food was good for lunch/dinner.

Owner is a chef and seems to be well versed in food. So food should still be good.

Ravine, Two Sisters is also good. The Keg on the 9th floor of the Embassy Hotel has the best views of the falls but it is definitely touristy.

Niagara College has a teaching winery, staffed by students. They are friendly and knowledgeable, have a great selection of wine and beers, and you can grab a glass and sit outside. They also have a food truck. Different vibe from the other wineries, but it’s a nice place to visit.

+1 for Westcott Vineyards, I think the Jordan, Vineland, Beamsville bench area is superior to Niagara on the lake!

After just doing a few days of tours with visiting relatives, I agree with the previous recommendations. One thing to keep in mind, the smaller wineries kitchens close around 5-6pm(depending on the day of the week).

Some others to consider would be,
- Henry of Pelham - new tasting room, patio, menu
- 13th street atmosphere is great, wine ok. Not open Sundays
- Redstone - good restaurant and wine is ok
- Fielding - amazing view(up the street from Organized Crime previously mentioned)
- Peninsula Ridge great restaurant(on the pricey side), good wine, good view
- Megalomaniac - impressive building and patio, great view, not sure about the wines as I haven't had them.
- Peller Estates - patio out back is amazing, good food.

As far as venue, view, food and wine...hard to beat Vineland Estate

Wow, thank you all for the recommendations!

I think our friends are in for a treat. I'll share the list with them and let them pick based on their itineraries.
