is Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned 911 worth it ?
hello all,
my understanding is that CPO 911 listed in Porsche inventory include extra 2 years of warranty on top of manufactory warranty and inspection is more strict to pass before putting on the market. Howevere, there seems to be huge premium on top. in some variants, pricing is similar to buying a new 911.
Porsche 911: New and used cars for sale | Porsche Finder Canada
so my question is... is Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned 911 worth its premium pricing? Would it be the same just getting 3rd party inspection and 3rd party extended warranty on a regular used 911?

I can’t answer the question posed but what do they do for the CPO inspection? Is there a checklist?
I have only one experience with cpo that was on my xc70. The checklist only covered easily accessible items, no leak down, endoscope, compression etc.

Do whatever you're comfortable with. If I found a deal on a car with no CPO, it wouldn't bother me one bit. My current 911 doesn't have one, no 3rd party warranty either; bought from a friend of my cousin. the car was low mileage and I'm quite certain it was never driven in the rain before, YMMV.

the only person who can decide the value is OP.
you can sit on your computer and make a thousand posts asking the internet what is best and what is available…. blahblahblah.
those answers are out there.
3rd party warranty isn’t often taken by any independent garage, so when your car with aftermarket warranty shiits the bed and 10 shops tell you they don’t work on cars with that warranty (because the warranty company pays $90/hr not the posted rate of $170 as an example) - then how’s that warranty going to work for you…..
CPO process the car literally goes through a massive checklist, and items MUST be addressed before it’s sold.
CPO costs over and above whatever rate posted, because CPO
and what CPO covers is available on the Porsche website.
no matter what car you buy, with what warranty - the internet doesn’t care.
buy what you like
and what lets you sleep at night - stress free.

Sure, if you purchase a crappy warranty that only pays $90 an hour, you can certainly get what you paid for.

when I bought 2 years ago CPO at a dealer with proper maintenance records available was the only option that I would consider. I didn't spend $130k plus tax to worry about what might be 2-3 thousand added on for piece of mind. if you are worried about that then this car is not for you. other than the water pump/valve body going out recently the car has been perfect and I still consider it good money spent. do you nickel and dime your car insurance? even moderate damage in a collision will write off these cars, doesn't matter whose fault it is. if you haven't looked into maintenance costs then it's time, maybe this car is beyond your means. replacement part costs for non-maintenance items are far more.

i went with CPO as I wanted to have 2-3 years of stress free ownership, this is after owning a 20 year old Porsche for 4 years. I'm done with classics!!
It really up to you.
