Default Key stuck question,,,,,,,again.

Did every suggested fix. New switch from Australia, new battery, no fault codes. And key still will not release after shutdown without using emergency procedure.
New wrinkle is that the heated seat buttons do not work. Everything else works.

Thoughts? Is there anything downline from the ignition switch that would affect the key release?

Is the new ignition switch OEM?
Do you know if there was any rainwater/car washing water that got into the car behind the dash?

Check your fuses. If they are good, may be wiring somewhere and that requires multimeter skills and diagrams.

It's the lock mechanism that may be suffering from corrosion and in much need of lubrication. Some suggest spraying a solvent down the keyhole or at the point of steering lock mechanism, but I strongly advise against spraying any solvent, but instead purchase some foaming WD40 Silicone spray. Lightly spray some down in the keyhole. Once lubricated, massage the key mechanism by inserting the key into the hole and rotating it several times before RUN position. You should hear the "clunk" sound when the key is ready to be removed. That's what you're aiming for. Good luck!

You originally said you replaced the "switch" which just one part of the system and mounted on the back side of the lock housing. The part that tends to "lock up" (no pun intended) is the lock mechanism inside the housing. *it's the aluminum part on the left in the image.

Did you replace that part too?

Ignition lock housing. Sometimes it's referred to as the lock cylinder.

The lock/ignition system on these cars have three main parts:
1. Starter Switch with RFID transmitter
2. Ignition lock Housing
3. Ignition Switch (mounted on the rear of the lock housing) *the part is a known failure point.

.1 and .2 cars have different parts... totally different.

Did water get to the control module under the driver's seat?

Did you read the codes?

Peace
