Old school leather / vinyl bra?
I always liked having an old school leather (pleather) bra for long distance drives. Anyone use one with their 992? I found these, but no pictures or anything. Thanks!!!

Do you like guaranteed scratched paint?

Someone posted their 992 with the bra on. Doesn't translate well onto the modern car. It looked terrible IMO.

May I suggest tracwrap. If it's 2 people, takes maybe an hour and a bit, and you can cover the entire front, including mirrors and A pillars etc. It's 8mm thick film, gets applied like putting tape and is super easy to remove with no damage to paint work.

The difficulty with the Pleather bras, of much popularity in the past, is that the bra itself did more damage to the paint over time and miles than having no bra at all.
If past is prologue, the current popularity of wraping with thin film plastic may suffer a similar fate, although with a longer life span.

But film wrap has neither of those problems - it doesn't move around, and grit can't get under it. So where would the paint damage come from?
Seems like people have been using PPF long enough to be aware of the trade-offs, yet it's still around and quite popular.

Huh? The problem with car bras is that they could move around, rubbing against and scuffing the paint. Even worse, they could trap grip underneath them and rub that against the paint.

Don't do it. Here is why.
I was looking for a way to not have to wrap the nose for track days....I was only going to
use it for that so no long term install issues.
So I ordered mine from covercraft......and it doesn't @@@^#E%!@^#E!@&$E^ FIT. Not even close.
It is almost like it would fit a 997 or maybe a 991 but not a 992 even though it states
it is for a 992.
The best part is I have been trying to get a return/refund from them for 3+ months.
I have basically given up on it after multiple phone calls and emails with no progress.
Just say no.

First of all, they are not leather - they are vinyl
They trap moisture and WILL cloud your paint. You cannot detail that cloudiness out. Secondly they flap, and that will cause friction wear.
There is a reason people stopped using these bras fifty years ago

I used to have the leather bras on my old school Civic when I was much much younger. It wasn’t that they moved around (they fit pretty tight with the straps). The problem was they would collect moisture when it rained. And if you didn’t constantly take it off to dry it out, it would eventually dull the paint. I would only use it for single road trips even back then.

I had one on a VW about 100 years ago. I thought it looked cool and everything, but in the PNW where it rains 800 days a year it wasn't a viable option.
Vinyl bras trap water and clouds the paint work over time.
I don't remember any rub damage to the paint as others have said..but I remember thinking to myself, "self, maybe someone should invent something clear like a see through bra to cover the hood."...
Damn!!!
ps...I still love see through bras!
