I think I can officially consider my first attempt at reviving a 928 a success. I bought this one a little more than a year ago that had been sitting outside for a number of years. Did a full intake refresh, cam cover reseal, new fuel injectors, new fuel lines, timing belt, rebuilt fan controller, new transmission vacuum line and actuator, most all "while I'm in here" items, and even buffed and polished the paint. I've driven it a few times near my house but stretched it's legs today and took it for a 45 mile drive without any issues. The only bad part was 90 degree heat with no AC. The HVAC and the passenger seat power are the only things left for me to address.
Don't worry, the air box and filter were put back on.
I'm in the middle of the same on an '87 S4. Just got done with the timing belt and a dozen other while I'm in there things. Currently sorting out the AC system... I'd love it to be only 90 but we're on track for 115 next week.
Thats a great color, your perseverance is paying off,
I am proud of your efforts.
NOTE if the seat is not a fuse issue,
then look for a broken wire under the seat.
