PIWIS connection to ABS Control Unit

PIWIS connection to ABS Control Unit
I cannot seem to get a connection between PIWIS and the ABS Control Unit. The Car is a 2001 C2. The screen on the PIWIS flickers between seeing the control unit and not seeing it. I have tried a second used ABS CU but that did not change anything. I can connect to all the other CU's. I has been suggested that the K-wire (diagnostic wire) could be an issue and that the K-wire to the stereo could be the problem. But, there is no stereo and I do not have a K-wire in that harness. There does not seem to be any visually apparent connection issues at the ABS plug-in or the OBD plug-in. Fortunately the car has relatively few CU's, specifically DME, ABS, Alarm, Air Bag, AC, Cluster, Seat Memory.
Anybody have some troubleshooting ideas?

Jiggle the wire harness at the connector to the ABS module. See if that changes your ability to connect with PIWIS.

Its the VCI none of the clones are perfect Im not surprised certain lines don't work.
What is the exact VCI? There is only one clone that is decent but its 3 x the price of all of them

Oh I see. I assumed you were talking about a specific PCB that was better than the other PIWIS 2 (or 3). Thank you for your recommendation.

Okay, I actually have another question. At which generation does the PIWIS 2 stop being useful, and the PIWIS 3 is a better substitute? 991, I’m assuming? And what about the other cars, like the Cayenne and Panamera, etc…
edit: oops, I just realized there’s an edit function.

Thank you for the bits of advice. I am still working on this issue.
I have an excellent power supply.
I have a VXDAS clone and a DoIP VCI.
I have checked the resistance of the Kwire between the ABS CU and the OBD port. It is 10 ohms which seems a bit high. I thought perhaps that was the issue. There is a welding splice between the 2 points. I have been digging into the wiring harness in the location identified by the wiring diagram but I have not been able to find the splice that is a potential point of the problem. Next step is to run a jumper wire between the ABS CU and the OBD port to see if the lower resistance changes the PIWIS response.

I have a clone piwis 2 and it works properly on 996, 997 and 955/957 cayenne. Probably on others which I have not tried yet. I don't have a 991, 992, or 958 to test it on. If someone wants to drop-ship me a 992 GT3 RS I promise I'll try it and report back.

my piwis3 clone connects easily to ABS of 996. with a clone vas6154 (the gray thingy). as it was mentioned, try connecting with high voltage, e.g. engine running. otherwise keep digging on the wiring...
