Anyone try the CRS on the track?

There's a topic in the 992 GT3 section about it.

I ran stock 991 GT3 size on mine and they did well, but my new MR suspension setup was very far off dialed in and the car lacked rear grip and was bouncy in the high speed which wasn't helped by the stiff sidewall. Overall the front end especially was strong, but they did not trouble a well used set of Cup 2R for lap time. I do think they're a bit quicker than a vanilla cup 2 but the best thing about the CRS is that it seems to last ages while offering strong performance. Not a tire for lap records but you do good laps on them without needing to do cool down laps and they hold up remarkably well over multiple sessions.

How do they (Nankang CRS) perform on the street vs Cup 2?

CR-S tires are all around better than SC2s in my opinion. CRS are better in price, in wet performance, in dry performance and road noise. CRS will likely wear a tad faster, but overall a much better tire for the track. Cold performance on the CRS is not good at all so I would not recommend them for the street.

Agreed - the CRS are surprisingly much more quiet than the SC2s on the street.

Not yet, I don't think. I'm waiting for a set with an ETA sometime in June, which I fear may get pushed out further.

I am really happy with the CRS v2. Perform better than the cup2s, and at a way better price point.

Thanks for the feedback. Not many options for 20" rims. Anybody have feedback for Autocrossing the CRS?

I run them for HPDE and autocross. Love them for HPDE. I find them solid for AX as well. Takes a good run to heat them up, but after the first, they stick really well. I prefer them to Cup 2 in both scenarios.

No one asked but the Nankang AR1's are also fantastic.....

AR1s are a tad better on dry track times but the road noise is much worse. for me, not worth the tradeoff.

I ran Cup2’s then switched to AR-1’s as track use grew and have gone through 3 sets now. Definitely a couple of seconds faster than Cup2’s but rears cord after 3 track days (and drop in grip after 2). I’m curious where the new CRS falls between Cup2’s and AR-1’s? If halfway to AR-1’s in grip but with much longer life I’d be willing to make the lap time sacrifice. But if much closer to Cup2's in grip than to AR1’s I probably would not, no matter how long lived.

Personally if I were to go below 200TWR I would go for hoosiers or actual slicks. No interest in streetable tires below 200TWR
