Default Another Coil Thread!

Anyone use Bremi coils here? I noticed they were the only ones on Rock Auto that advertised w/ bolts and they are an OEM BMW supplier. They are made in Germany and appear nice, but I don't think I've ever seen them used/mentioned here for P-cars.

On a side note, I ordered Mahle and Baldwin filters for both the 996 turbo and my cayenne gts. The cayenne are made in Austria and it's a Mahle filter in the box with a Baldwin stamp on one side, lol. Literally exactly the same. The 996 turbo one is made in Korea(?) and has plastic caps/inside (but the OEM inside also seems plastic). It's also a touch shorter than the OEM, so it actually fit's pretty nicely and uses small rubber gaskets on each end versus the OEM that you push and compress down onto the lid/housing. I'm gonna use it, Baldwin filters are highly rated and I use one in my 964 too. We'll see.

They're the updated 997 part #s also, hence the included longer bolts I guess.

I have just been reusing the old bolts; I think the last ones I bought, Beru, also had bolts with them.

I switched over Bosch coils about 25k miles ago and have had no issues. So I think you could give Bremi a try.

I always think of the names like Bremi, Bosch, Beru etc as OEM equivalents for most all offerings with equal performance and/or longevity. I'd buy the Bremi without reservation. I think my current coils are Beru. That fact I'm not sure, just reflects that I'm due to swap them along with plugs. Again, again.

I get it. The old adage "measure twice, cut once" has been lost on me many a time, as I've had to do a lot of things twice! Your post earlier reminded me to go back to rockauto yesterday to place a NEW order for the two missing brake vibration "dampers" that I forgot to order FOUR of just last week and was short two for my front brake refresh. At least I didn't do the front brakes TWICE! Plugs and coils would be much worse.

Side note: Anyone notice how prices seem to be jumping up nearly weekly?! The stupid anti-squeal things went up about +30% in a few days. I should have ordered all four at once! Rock really does have the best prices on everyday stuff so dealing with their 1996 era website functionality is not so bad.

Did the front brakes on our Cayenne diesel two years ago, complete kit from FCP Euro was $400. Just did them last Friday, kit from FCP Euro was $500. Exact. Same. Kit. +25% more now.

I just got the r1 concepts drilled/slotted front/rears w/ pads and all hardware (brembo) for $500 and I think there was %10 off somewhere there too for the Cayenne. Seemed like a good deal, front rotors are huge. They did have a full front/rear setup for $348. But it seems prices are outrageous for everything and just getting worse.

I have a lot of time to shop these days and so ended up buying a lot of stuff piecemeal. All in $375 incl tax and shipping ( fronts only ) and that included all e.g rotors pads, hardware and all the stuff I neglected to bother replacing last time like the "hardware" kit. Darn caliper bolts are expensive too! Pretty sure I didn't swap out the vibration dampers last time. This time all is new. Funny thing is because I stupidly forgot to order the FOUR dampers I had to order two separately. That cost an extra shipping charge but at least Rock had them for $7.50 each

But yeah, prices are getting stupid and now and we are all wise to buy any anticipated needed wear items, and keep in the garage until needed. I just went thru same deal with tires. I was watching prices rise weekly. What's next - A wheelbarrow of cash to buy a loaf bread!?

@s65e90 What did you pay for coils and plugs? That may be my next sit on the shelf 'til needed purchase!

last data point. I used AZAutohaus/RockAuto/and Pelican(?). That a lot of clicking for just front brakes! Now I gotta go find a 3/8 T55 Torx! Only tool I still need!

Coils were just under $200 for the set.

Thanks. Next on my never ending "list". Using FR6LDC plugs Or something fancier?

But FCP Euro does lifetime warranty, even on motor oil. So why did you pay at all?

Fcp euro refunds what you paid before. So $400, not $500. So out $100 there and $110 to ship it back to them. I'll take the refund tho and did ship the brakes back to them
