Default FAL question

Question for those that have front axle lift. The owners manual isn't clear (to me at least), considering whether to add this feature. If you engage FAL to enter your driveway/garage, or at any destination to clear an obstacle (parking lot, etc) - what happens to the lift when you put the car in Park? Does it remain elevated, does it lower on its own, does it lower but a few minutes after the car is parked, etc? Thank you.

Remains elevated, until you lower it. Engine has to be running.

I’ve gotten used to lowering at just after I pull into the driveway, before the garage door is fully opened. Or any other place I have GPS raise in memory.

Another side note if you leave it raised while driving, it will give you a notification and lower itself as you reach a certain speed.

It will not self lower. You have to remember to lower it yourself. It has something to do with liabilities etc.

As others have said, yes, you have to remember to lower the front end.

The question that I have not seen (with any definitive evidence) is - what harm, if any, is there if left over night, or two, in the raised position? Anybody know for sure? I kept forgetting after pulling into the garage, so posted a big note to LOWER THE CAR in the wall in front of me.

Oh yes that is correct. I'm usually parking when FAL is activated which doesn't give me the op to reach those speeds.

On an other similar thread, the consensus was to lower it before turning off the car, because you could risk damaging the system.

Owners manual states that the car must be lowered before turning the engine off. When I first got the car, I kept forgetting to do that, and I’d park it raised or the car would turn the engine off for Start/Stop. It wasn’t long before it showed a message showing FAL malfunction. That message doesn’t appear anymore as long as I remember to lower it as soon as I clear a driveway or speed bump

So even when it raises via GPS memory, you still have to lower it manually?
Does the car let you know it's raising and give you a message to lower?

Yes, you have to lower manually. GPS only used to raise the front.

Yes, it let’s you know the front is being raise.

No, it does not give you a message to lower….but if still driving at speeds around 25-30mph, it will automatically lower, If recently raised and then parking (e.g., in a garage) you have to remember on your own to lower after parked.

This is why half of the photos of FAL equipped cars show the front nose pointing up in the air. LOL!

So it won't let you stop the engine in Park, while in the lifted position? Interesting, you would think they would have auto-lowered it as part of placing the car in Park. But that's good information to know.

FAL is the only option I have any regret not getting. Will likely get it on the next one. Will definitely need to replace the front plastic piece as I've bottomed out at least 3-4x already.
