I am new to 911's but have owned a Macan Turbo for a couple of years and was a VWVortexer years back.
This is the start of my thread and we will see if this page grows.
So, the car is Olaf a 1999 996.1 six speed with a red interior. It came from a good owner who looked after it and lived in Philly. I flew up there in Feb, bought it and drove the car back down in the South.
So far I have done: Motor oil, serpentine, BMC Airfilter, Pollen filter, done the Helmholtz mod, replaced handbrake, motor mounts, hood struts, tightened cable, added new headlight bulbs, and started the GT3 center console delete.
The plan is to stay OEM plus. I will add a single DIN hands free enabled bluetooth stereo, low temp thermostat, x51 sump plate and baffle, 3rd radiator and change the steering wheel.

Oh yeah. I saw that car. I had it on my short list to buy, but it already sold by the time I had all of my funds together. It is a killer spec, and it seemed well taken care of and well priced. Enjoy it!
Thanks guys! Yeah I jumped on it when I saw it. More updates soon. Changing those engine mounts! Wow, what a big improvement in NVH and performance. The shifting is better too. I will do a liquimoly transmission fluid change soon and report back on if that helps. Also, I will be making a video of adding the cheapo eBay short shift kit too (purely for entertainment value) and if it sucks I will change to a 997 GT3 kit.
Swepco 201 is also a very good manual trans oil. It has been recommended for Porsche 911 gearboxes for years. I first used it in my 911 back in the 1980s

Ok lets get this thread updated a bit shall we. I will try and keep this page up more in future
Since my last post I have:
Added a 3D printed GTS center console delete
Installed Continental Stereo
Upgraded all speakers (kept original amp)
Powerflex transmission mount
Trans fluid flush
Three spoke steering wheel
All three chain tensioners
Dropped and inspected sump
Added 997 oil returns
Progress so far on the 3D printed console. I still need to find Terracotta carpet. The console is sturdy and quiet currently so I am happy for now. Image shows a test fit of a first pass print.
Rolling across Sullivan's Island, SC
Post three spoke install (found for $450 and sold four spoke for $300 )
This is where I get to call my garage and bike cage. I don't have a Garage so everything is done outside of my ridiculously expensive house that the missus loves...Normally the shed looks better than this!
I bought quick jacks which are a blessing
I also took my main steed for a ride with suction mounts. It was very scary but all seems well. I plan on doing a tail of the dragon run soon but will remove the passenger seat for that one and place the bike inside.
Things still to do:
Possible remove tint. Car is kept under a cover infrequently when I am not using it.
Change Variocam tensioners with engine in car
Add coilovers
Add a tune
Headers (for sound)
Align right tailpipe
Possibly retromod some fried egg lights to have projector lens
Cheers, Blighty.

Tested coolant temps on long distance today 40 mins in highway and stop/go traffic in 95 degree heat. The car performed wonderfully maintaining 180 degrees whilst moving and no more that 195-200 when completely stopped.
The new Continental stereo is performing well also is a serious upgrade to the last system sound and usability wise.
