New oil for GT cars
I wonder will this keep my F engine from blowing 🤔

Funny how the link says it is not suitable for cars requiring C40, yet the manual shows C40 and it says C40 in the title.

Someone should send a new sample of this oil to Blackstone to see how it compares with other choices.

Since it includes the race cars, maybe they found some deficiencies with the old oil formulas that the new one addresses?

I just spent a lot of time researching oils. Our brethener in the 997 world who suffer from cylinder bore scuffing have many oil analysis threads. They turned me onto Driven Oils, the DI and DT series. DT is for A40, and DI is for C40, but many people run them in A40 applications. The oil analyis speak for themselves. Much lower wear on many wear anaysis. DI40 is pretty awesome. It's more like a 5w40 then it's rated 0w40. WIth their new formula they are changing the label to 5w40.
My next oil is probably going to Driven DI40. It's an MPAO without ester, and an incredible viscocity index. MPAO is a very expensive base stock that was developed for wind turbines, and the wear results are masic.
A couple good reads:

With FCP euro you can change your oil for "Free" after your 2nd change.
The key to any oil you run is to keep oil change intervals low, do oil analysis, and run a good viscocity.

It’s a Porsche recommendation. I expect all the cars on that list to begin to require “C40 GT” oil. Granted, most 991.2 GT cars are out of warranty already, but I would think there may be some real reason to use the new oil (but I guess also possible that Mobil and Porsche found a way to make more money).

On a 2nd look, this oil looks pretty unremarkable. We would have to see a full VOA, and some wear results, but it really just looks like an updated version of Mobil 1 ESP X3 C40, rebranded, but it also lost some viscocity index.
Mobil 1 ESP X3 C40 has a higher viscocity index (less viscocity loss over temperature). Higher VI generally means a better base oil.
Both oils are HTHS of 3.8, but the viscocity index of 40 GT is lower at 199 vs 204 for Mobil 1 ESP X3.
Generally, higher VI means a better base oil, this new 40 GT oil, unless it has a ton of ZDDP additives and moly, on paper does not look impressive
Mobil 1 ESP X3 spec sheet for reference:

I looked at the specs on the M1 5w50 DexosR when it came out, the wear package was in line the DT40 and DI40 oils. Have owned 3 water cooled Porsche cars, the M1 was pulled and replaced with Driven oils, and never looked back, better oil pressure, lower operating temps, and quieter operation.

Some used Oil Analysis of Di40 vs Mobil 1 Ow40 Euro. Exclude the 2nd one that has high fuel dillution.
My 500 Miles Mobil 1 Ow40 Euro A40, vs Driven DI40 in 997 Application. Still looking for DI40 in 991 oil analysis if anyone has one. Notice how the Mobil 1 has sheared to lower end of grade without fuel dillution. Not good for wear results.

Mobil 1 Supercar looks like a good option other than the moly. Are there any good Moly/ZDDP additives that don't mess with the other properties of the oil? That seems to be the weakness of some otherwise good and accessible oil options.
Actually that whole row looks good with the Driven DT, being a street oil, taking the win with higher Moly and Zinc (not race oil so able to sit in the car longer - detergent package etc.)
I was thinking to go with M1 5W50 FSX2 and use an additive if I could figure one out that would play nice with the other aspects of the oil.
(Edit: Just searched around about additives and it looks pretty messy and confusing. Think I will avoid but maybe someone with more knowledge can say why it's a bad idea).
