Default High brake light resistor plug for aftermarket wing.

For those of you who have an aftermarket wing could you share if you have a solution for the brake light warning. I know some of the aftermarket shops provide a resistor plug that defeats the error message. If you have one could you share what type of resistor plug it is with maybe a part number?

I'm also interested in this. I was planning on taking some measurements and seeing if I could homebrew something this week.

At the track this weekend and had the perfect warning storm - airbag light, low tire pressure, low engine oil, check high brake light, and low fuel after a session. Gotta work on getting some of these lights off, haha.

Ended up removing my light from the wing. I was worried about breaking it till I realized it has double sided tape holding it. I bubble wrapped and velcro'd the light inside the rear hood then connected it. Voila no warning.

I have the full Verus Engineering kit on my GT3 and it came with an error cancellation plug for the light. Maybe you could reach out to them and see if they will sell you one?

Well I reached out to one of there vendors and they acted like it was some kind of military secret. I'm ok with this for now.

I'm pretty sure the Verus wing package included a simple resistor, probably around 7 ohms. I didn't pay that much attention to it.

Assuming the light just has 2 wires for +12 and gnd, perhaps try measuring the resistance using a voltmeter between those connectors and buy a resistor of the right resistance and plug it into the input connector then wrap with electric tape? That is how airbag warning is bypassed as well

I was planning to try the resistor and have gotten busy and it moved pretty low on my priority list. Was a bit concerned as the led is a diode and not constant resistance - didn’t want to melt a cheap resistor or anything weird. But I also wonder how the error circuit works…might be something quite simple akin to the brake pad sensors just looking for continuity.

for the airbags, do you have any firsthand knowledge of that working on a 991? I’ve scoured about everywhere and not heard of anything that successfully defeats that one without basically swapping in all the dummy wiring and an occupancy sensor, which is way more than I’m willing to pay for a slight annoyance.

I have not done airbag bypass on a 991 but have done it on a 997 and numerous other Hondas, etc. I assume you are talking about the thorax airbags in the seats and the AWS in the passenger seat. The thorax airbags are usually fairly easy as you just need to find the 2 terminals for each airbag and plug in a resistor. So far I used 2.3-3 ohm resistors on all cars I fixed and they worked just fine, including the 997. For the AWS in the 997, I got a Foxwell NT 530 and coded it out, and with the resistors I didn't touch the thorax airbag coding and have no airbag light.

Gotcha, yeah I've found a lot of resources to defeat the 997 lights, but the 991's seem to be more elaborate from my research. Thanks!

Thanks for the update. I had suspected it would be a bit of a hassle to get a resistor playing nice with the LED variable resistance of the original light. The guy I bought my wing from had shown me that he removed the LEDs from the factory wing and zip tied them inside the black screen/mesh on the rear bumper so you could still see the light. I guess it fits just about perfectly there. Haven't tried that, but throwing it out there in case you'd like to see the third light or someone else runs across this. Haven't tried doing that myself yet, though.

Just thought I would bump this up on the off chance someone found a fix. Am looking to relive the factory wing and use some risers and a custom blade for track work and would be great to defeat the error light. Any intel greatly appreciated.
