Default PCA Laguna - SPB Report and New Lap Record

Great turnout and excellent race at Laguna. Weather was perfect, over 20 car turnout in class made for lots of door to door action throughout the pack. 4 races (3 sprint and an enduro), 4 days at the track (epic) and no 13/13s despite hard racing

The PCA folks worked very hard managing a few crashes that messed up the schedule, and really made for a perfect and very well organized weekend. Thank you!

We did lose 5 cars to transmissions over the weekend, something the boxster class is going to need to start thinking about - I know a few folks are working on it - maybe time to combine efforts.

On a personal note - I spent some time on the test and tune day working out how to setup the car for a laguna fast lap and decided to give a try to taking the lap record from Luke's awesome lap in 2016.

Saturday morning the weather gods looked positive for an am run so went for it. Below in video is a 1:41.7 in a 21 year old clunker. Pretty cool, some more left I think so it may not last forever though

Very nice. It looked easy.

I really need to get there. If my daughter ends up at a CA school It might happen sooner.

Really impressive driving, Matt. And great to spend the long weekend with you.

Regarding the SPB transmissions, at least one was simply a sheared shift shaft pin. Simple repair with the gearbox in the car. And completely preventable by replacing with steel pins. I would not be surprised if one of the other 'broken' boxes also was a broken pin. Of course, at least two sounded like broken gears. It would be good to find a solution to that problem.

Matt you drove really well all weekend glad we could fix the car after your "full send" race in SP2 and that someone in the paddock had the part you needed. I am especially thankful an honored you shared your car with me for the Enduro albeit our poor pit stop communication and timing stoked to share that win with you. The in class racing is great right now if anyone wants to join one of the largest west coast classes and have good clean and hard door to door racing (Matt and I went door to door from turn 4 through the top of 9 and only dropped 1 sec off the fastest lap) come join us.

Not only is the racing great but the people are as well your fiercest competitor on track will be the one under your car helping you get back out when you need it..

I did not have the speed to battle with Matt and Anders this past weekend as strong as I would have liked, but am stoked to have been on the podium for all the races and because Matt allowed me to co-drive his car landed a shared win!

The enduro was my favorite part of the weekend Heath - you took back in 15 seconds of pit stop error on the track to win - was an amazing drive to watch

And yeah Heath replaced my pan because I am mechanically incompetent and like going airborne.
