DIY: PDK Transmission Reset Procedure
If you buy your car pre owned, or if it went into limp mode, or you just think you have some quirks in it, one way to diagnose or pd if you have issues, is to try reset the PDK itself.
The car learns driver habits over time. After a few years, a new owner may have different driving style, and this reset will help the new owner get car into factory condition, so it can learn new owner habits and hopefully be a better experience for the new driver.
Below pic is from Porsche, and gives 4 steps on how to reset PDK to factory mode.
Good luck. Hope it helps someone here.

I just tried it and will report back after some driving. My PDK felt perfect before this procedure so curious if I note any change. Also, I assumed step 3 is to remove the fob and not the (fixed) ignition key so that's what I did.

yes, on enter and drive options, turn car off and leave car, and lock it (locking should not be possible if you leave fob inside car anyway).
Thanks.
Thanks.

Initial impressions are that the car's previous owners drove it like old ladies. It seems better now and the shifts are crisper and better-timed to my style of driving, but not harsh in any way. I've always like the PDK and now it appears to be improved. Many thanks to ciaka for sharing this gem!
One other thing; when I unlocked the car following this procedure I'm pretty sure it had a different sound to it, maybe indicating some type of reset audibly to confirm?

Interesting about the sound. Will try to keep an eye for it, but wont get to it until weekend.
Glad to hear you are noticing a difference. I will post my impressions after I do mine as well. Anyone else doing this, chime in, will be good to hear few impressions. I would recommend you drive car before the reset, do the reset, then drive the same road stretch again. Should give you more comparable results.

Thanks Ciaka for this, I have always felt the PDK transmission on my 2010 4S was jerky at low speeds and slow to shift in Normal mode, as if their was excessive clutch slip. I thought it was normal for a PDK until I applied this procedure - has completely transformed the driving experience!
Stoplight takeoff is now smooth with progressive clutch engagement, normal shifts are quicker and crisp, downshifting when slowing down is also improved with no jerkiness as it's going down the gears.
10min of your time very well spent and would suggest it to all, especially if you've bought the car used.
Cheers,
Spyro

I should add that I used the extended procedure that I saw in an excerpt from the workshop manual which adds the extra step of pressing the accelerator pedal once 1:30 sec into the 3min cycle for each phase. Not sure it makes a difference either way.

Do tell please on the "extended version"

Did yours have a different beep when unlocking the car after this procedure?

Skiracer, I have the entry beep turned off so I couldn't tell, but the difference in drive was noticeable.
As for the extended procedure, it consisted of adding the step of pressing the accelerator once at the 1:50min mark during each of the 3min phases(AC off, AC on, Transmission in gear), with brake applied obviously.
I'm not sure if the additional step really made a difference since the whole procedure seems quite odd to begin with, but it worked.
