Another scored cylinder story for the stats
As evidenced in my other threads, I have had issues with my (Euro) CTT 2007, related to oil consumption, smoking under decel/accel, needing coils and plugs, then do it all over again.
I am the second owner of this '07 CTT with 123,000 KM (63,000 miles). Never lived in cold climate, dealer maintained.
Finally got the indy to scope cylinder 8 and sure enough, another one for the 'scored cylinder' list.
Expecting a quote by Friday on the 2 options:
- rebore and resleeve the cylinders and replace the pistons
- find a used replacement block
Any other ideas/suggestions, I am open to them.
Note: my profile says Daly City, CA, because I can't figure out how to reset it to a new country. I am based in the Netherlands now, near Amsterdam...

Sorry to hear that. It really is kind of absurd that Porsche got away with selling such a flawed engine.
It scares me but it seems like almost every 955 and 957 will eventually suffer this fatal failure.
Depending on what the pricing works out to - I'd say try to get it repaired. A used or even new block will probably have the same issue eventually. At least from what I understand, repaired properly - they can adjust the clearances so it won't be an issue in the future.

Can't help with the scored cylinder but to change your location use the drop down on your login at the top of the page and select MY PROFILE. Once there select the About Me tab and then click the pencil icon on the Location line.

Because you have such low miles I think it would be worth a rebuild. The original pistons are coated to run in the aluminum bore and they probably will not be re-usable anyway. By the time you have a set of pistons made, add up all the seals and gaskets and up all the "while your in there stuff", you will find it gets very expensive fast. Most importantly- make sure that a flanged type sleeve is used in the rebuild. Melling makes sleeves that will work for a nice price.

If I ever face this issue in either my Cayenne or 997 engines, I will send the block to Charles at LN Engineering for their Nikasil reworking of the block. Their sleeves are also flanged as Jayme recommends, so no way for them to slide up in the bore and cause a D-chunk failure. I'd look into that option as part of the rebuild.
