Default Well, that didn't take long...

Three weeks into ownership of my '18 GTS, and bam. I am just sick to my stomach over this. Stopped in traffic this afternoon, and some lady comes barreling into the car behind me, which sends him into me, and me into the guy in front. I can't even describe what was and is going through my head. The guy in front of me apparently wasn't interested in talking to the cops, so that vehicle just took off. I'm not sure how, but the nose of my car somehow kind of tucked under his rear, and there is practically no indication of damage other than a lot of dirt transferred to the top of my bumper on the PPF, and the tow hook cover knocked askew, but it popped right back in. It's really kind of weird, as it felt like a lot more than a love tap, yet I can't see where even any of the PPF was damaged. All the gaps look normal, and not pushed in. Might have a dodged a bullet on that end, but who knows.

I wasn't so lucky on the rear end. That got pushed in about 3"-4" above the tailpipe. The bumper hit something hard enough to get lacerated where the arrows are. Looks like a new bumper and diffuser at a minimum. No telling what may have happened underneath.

The car behind me took the brunt of the hit, and an elderly lady in that vehicle went to the hospital with a lot of neck & chest pain, but everyone else seemed OK.

Finally, to add insult to injury, the person being charged for the accident has the same insurance company as me, so there goes any chance of having an advocate in the process on my side. This should be interesting.

Sorry to see/hear that. Hope there is quick and fair resolution despite you and the reported accident perpetrator being under the same insurance company. Do please keep us informed. Glad you made it out without any major medical mishap.

Thanks guys, I don't think a lot of people can understand how traumatic this can be regardless of how minor the damage might be. I'm cautiously optimistic this might end up just replacing some covers. I called my dealer, and am going down there tomorrow to let them take a look see,and give me some guidance on handling the adjuster.

That stinks! Hate, hate, hate, to hear stories like this. Don't understand how people don't pay attention to their driving -- geeze, everybody is stopped at a stop light, where the hell did she think she was going?! Chances are she was busy texting or reading emails instead of paying attention to where she was going. I mean, really, come on!! Sorry for the old lady who went to the hospital. That lady should sue the pants off of the lady that hit her! Sorry, but I got not tolerance for crap like this. If you are not going to pay attention to driving, take public transportation of a cab.

I have grown tired of this **** happening every day. I feel your pain and hope it all works out. Most people do not understand and no matter how well the process goes it is never quite the same in one's mind. All the best.

I am sorry to hear this, it is my worst fear driving my car on the street. I am so concerned about it that I have almost given up driving my semi street legal car on the the street anymore. I suspect that you will have a bit more damage than you are expecting. Besides the bumper cover, diffuser, muffler and tailpipes, the bumper itself will be compromised and possible damage to connecting parts of the frame have been pushed. Here is a thread with exactly this type of issue that will explain how these parts are all inter connected https://rennlist.com/forums/991/7603...r-job-huh.html. My advice is to be sure you go to a Certified Porsche Repair facility, they will spare no expense in restoring your car to new car spec's. The diminished value claim will be tougher, but this is the risk we take driving anywhere. Personally, I would feel better being hit from behind by an elderly person than some A-hole on a cell phone.

So sorry to hear. I had a similar issue in my 991.1. Hang in there and report back.

I am so sorry that this happened to you! It makes me sick to my stomach to think about it and I certainly understand how traumatic it can be (you know my sad story!). Glad you aren't hurt and hope everyone recovers well. Hopefully they can fix it as good as new.

After what happened to me, no question, I am going to buy a front and rear dash cam! Too many idiots out there.

Really glad everyone is okay and sad to see this. I had an old lady back into my bimmer.... twice... last week. Several people chased her down. She had no clue she hit me and was very flighty. She said she was so careful but looking at the corners of her car, it was not the first (or second) time she’s done this.

Looking at the pic, looks like a repaint and easy, minor repair of the bumper + diffuser. 3 week old car has to make it even worse! Let us know if you get a diminished value consideration.
