For sale, a 2001 VW GTI VR6 GLX. Second owner, ~25K miles under current ownership, original owner was a 50-something engineer.

Completely stock. Recent work (over $2500) includes:
  • Front struts and shock bushings - OEM
  • Street alignment
  • New wheels
  • New Conti tires
  • Water pump, with coolant flush
  • Power steering pump
  • Driver's seat bottom center
  • Updated center console

Clutch and timing chain guides replaced by prior owner at around 90K miles.

AC blows cold. Heat works. Heated seats work. No CEL or other known fault codes.

Overall, the paint is good, but the car has some cosmetic issues and would benefit from a detail and some touch-up. There is some rust at the rear bottom of the front fenders. The front grille is cracked but remains in place. There are a few minor dents, at least some of which could be repaired w/o paint or filler.

The interior is good with the usual broken glove box door handle and peeled vinyl surfaces. The original windshield is intact but worn and should be replaced eventually.

This is a fun, practical, and reliable driver with a smooth, torque-rich engine and a tight gearbox. It would make a great off-to-college car, a winter driver, or something for a young lad just getting started after school and needing something interesting to drive, without breaking the bank on insurance or causing an emotional crisis if dinged in the city.

PM for more details and contact info.
