Someone's wife had a change of heart it seems.

I've already insured...booked a nonrefundable flight....and arranged finances and left a deposit for this car. Seller gave me his word he would sell for the agreed price but I guess that wasn't enough.

The search continues I guess. I'll be PMing those of you who sent me options here shortly.

Yeah, he's not a rennlister (that's his first post above) but it's super scummy. I don't care that he gets to keep the car (If that is even true, which I doubt) but his word isn't worth a dime and he certainly isn't upstanding enough to make amends for wasting someones time/effort/money.

It is what it is, for the best I don't buy a car from someone like that.

I didn't want to say it, but he priced it too cheap and someone else might have offered him more after you agreed.

Wow, Sorry to hear the seller backed out. Looked like a great example. Just as many say, you are buying the seller as much as the car...in this case it was so true. Wife had a change of heart on a 300 mile car? Seems unlikely...He probably found another buyer that offered more...Hopefully he at least isn't balking at refunding your deposit..I would also ask for airfare....although he probably won't do it. Good luck with your search.

Oh absolutely. I have no issue with that - the issue I have is don't waste my time stringing me along for half a week, watching me buy a flight, hold a deposit, and make arrangements to get there and 2 days before D-Day completely bail and use your wife as a reason to do it.

I'm not getting my time back but if you're going to be that way at least own up to it and cover my flight expenses. It'll come back around in some way, I lose here but I'm sure something better will make its way to me. Ess Muss Sein, or so they say!

I'm curious on the mileage of that Spyder, did you see a picture of the odometer to confirm? I have seen lots of cars listed with low miles so they pop up in searches and then they spring the actual mileage on you after the fact. Very frustrating.
