1997 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet (993) is finished in Arena Red with Classic Gray interior and shows 108,000 miles on the odometer. The car rolls on original Carrera 2 wheels. This Porsche was originally delivered in San Diego California by San Diego Porsche on June 25, 1997. The car has a production date of September 1996. In August of 2006 with 67,000+ miles, the car was sold and offered for sale by Southwest Stuttgart in Tempe AZ and purchased by an avid Porsche enthusiast and membership chairman of the Musikstadt chapter of the PCA and taken to Nashville TN.

The second owner meticulously replaced many of the tired components including battery, rubber seals, spark plugs, headlight lenses, cabriolet top controller window switches and completely replaced the canvas top, headliner and tonneau cover with a high quality Gahh top. He also added a few tasteful, and fully reversible modifications including a Schnell front brace, aluminum pedal set, Robin Sun’s RSR mufflers, upgraded Polk and MB Quartz speakers and crossovers and an upgraded Porsche/Becker CDR-220 stereo with CD player. The stock springs and Monroe shock absorbers were upgraded to Bilstein HD shocks and M030 springs and ride set a tad lower than ROW giving the car a graceful and purposeful stance. Brake lines have been replaced with stainless steel lines.

In September of 2009, the car was purchased by the seller, also an avid enthusiast and PCA member. The car remained in the Nashville area until August 2017. The seller, with a home office, used the car as a daily driver logging less than 5,000 miles per year. The car was well maintained during his tenure with frequent oil changes using Mobil1 oil and OE filters. The seller added aluminum Walrod trim rings and RS engine mounts. Also the odometer gears were replaced by Hollywood Speedometer. The odometer was stuck for approximately 7 months. The seller estimates that the car has about 4,000 miles more than shown on the odometer due to the outage.

In 2014, the engine and transmission were removed. The transmission was completely rebuilt by Porsche specialist Pat Williams of Memphis TN. Synchros were replaced with steel and a Wavetrac torque-biasing differential replaced the stock open differential. While the owner “was at it” the clutch and flywheel were upgraded to RS-clutch and pressure plate and an Aasco “Mid-weight” flywheel as used in the Singer Porsche. The setup provides quicker acceleration, an aggressive and positive clutch action without the stalling issues associated with a lightweight flywheel setup. While the engine was out, most seals and gaskets were replaced as well as the hydraulic lifters, power steering belt, and valve cover bolts. Full documentation including receipts for parts and work done since 2006 are included and available for review.

The car has 17" Cup 2s currently. The 10-spoke 996 wheels are available.

I noticed that I had not changed my location in Avatar. To be clear, the car is located in Southern California.
