Since 2011 my daughter and I have been refinishing custom Porsche hood, steering wheel and wheel center crests for members here on Rennlist. It’s been great having a “family hobby business” (not our “day jobs”) and we truly enjoy the interaction with fellow owners / enthusiasts here! You can review our previous threads and posts here and by searching under my profile name “intrepidagent”. In those threads you’ll find unsolicited reviews of our work by numerous VERY happy customers.

We currently refinish Porsche crests in brushed and polished nickel and silver plate, Cerakote (a ceramic firearm refinishing material) and Marine Resin. We can also color match any factory paint color / code and include it in the piece. We have a six page online album of previously refinished pieces parked at photobucket.com here:

Refinished Porsche Hood Crests by Jim Yurgealitis | Photobucket

Recently we were contacted by a few “Dual” Porsche / BMW owners asking if we would apply the same custom finishes to BMW Roundels. We, and they, realize there are a myriad of “custom” BMW roundels available on eBay and elsewhere however the quality and longevity of these pieces are lacking. This past weekend we refinished a metal BMW OEM Hood Roundel (Part # 00095808114, NOT plastic) as a test piece. This solid metal roundel has the same dimensions as the more common plastic part # 51148132375. The measurements for this piece are listed at the bottom of the post. We gave the roundel a brushed nickel plate finish with satin black and gloss grey metallic automotive enamel:

If there are any BMW owners / enthusiasts here interested in a true custom hood roundel the price for a piece in the pic is $149.99 shipped (in the US, overseas at additional cost).

As mentioned previously we can include any color in the piece as well as factory matching paint codes. A solid black Cerakote refinished roundel is $124.99. Standard “stock” colors are available at no additional cost. (i.e. red, yellow, blue grey etc.). Here's a pic (not our piece however it illustrates the pattern):

Please have a look at our online album of Porsche pieces and contact us here via PM or by email if you’d like us to create a custom roundel for you and your BMW: porschecrests@gmail.com. If you can imagine it we can create it!

We welcome your feedback and commentary here on the thread as well as via email!

Measurements for the metal roundel, part # 00095808114, are:
Outside diameter: 82mm
Distance between the rear mounting posts: 50mm
Distance between the center of the rear mounting posts: 52.5mm
Mounting post diameter: 5mm

More information about Cerakote can be found on their website here: http://www.cerakoteguncoatings.com/?...2nDBoC1Q7w_wcB

Cheers: Jim

The pieces we refinish are solid metal genuine BMW parts and not the cheaper plastic pieces found on eBay and elsewhere. They have raised "3D" lettering / details as opposed to the smooth domed surface on the plastic pieces.

We did have a few questions asking if we can provide a matched set of front and rear roundels for BMW's with a smaller rear trunk emblem - 73mm. After some research and calls with vendors we're able to provide a smaller "trunk" roundel that's all metal as well. It's a genuine BMW rear emblem from a 2002 (model, not the year) and is 71mm in diameter.

As this is a "hobby business" and not our "day jobs" we'll be actively refinishing BMW Roundels and Porsche Crests this weekend. Let us know if you're interested in a custom roundel for you and your BMW!

Thanks for the kind words and posting the pic. As we discussed it looks great with a black grille!
