Deliberately leaving out the fact that you crashed the car in your original ad sure makes you look like you're being deceptive. By the way, because of the wreck, your car cannot be in "very good condition" by definition. It's a repaired wreck with a new paint job.

Thinking your gonna get anywhere near $22,500 for your car after this wreck makes me think you're also lying to yourself.

You might wanna see if you can scam some poor sucker on eBay, because I doubt anyone here will be buying it after you failed to disclose the fact that you crashed it in your ad.

OP, I am willing to take it at face value that you figured you woukd just Bring it up to anyone who contacted you about the car. Even so, 95% of potential buyers aren't going to touch a car that had that much damage, and it is just a waste of time for everyone involved, yourself included. Also, for your asking price, I would expect a 964 that was in excellent condition.

Even more B.S. My buddy up your way checked out the car and said the clutch was at it's highest point and on the verge of needing a replacement. He was not informed prior to driving an hour's distance...and even then the seller dismissed it by saying, "oh, I guess must have gotten used to it driving like this."

Also what's strange is in the sellers posting, the brake lights are faded and blistering, something you would expect to see after 10-15 years. However the rear end accident was last year and clearly all the brake lights would have been replaced. So did the seller buy faded/blistered brake lights and if so what other parts were bought used (see suspension).

With only seeing the one photo, $7,200 does seem like a relatively small 'financial hit' for the damage that appeared to have been done, including a full respray, and the brake light does not look anywhere close to new - good eye u7t2p7.

Whether or not the OP was fully disclosing these items to potential buyers offline (which seems very inefficient albeit not unbelievable) it's hard to see how this car can be described as an 'excellent example' and in 'very good condition cosmetically and functionally' with no mention of being in a major accident or, apparently, needing a new clutch despite that and a 'full tune 2k miles ago.'

At the very least not the way most people around here would have listed the car under the same circumstances. Which may make Ebay a much better place for this type of car + advert description.

In my experience, guys like this op are the exception rather than the rule. I have had nothing but great buying experiences from fellow Rennlisters. At least he only has 4 posts under his belt. Good reminder in caveat emptor.

Unfortunately, us pointing it out won't have him grow a conscience. .. that said, he is exception. I've had only great experiences with rennlisters.

It's not that he's mis-representing it in the craigslist ad (or any other ad for that matter) that i have a prob with. It's the fact that he posted it here, on Rennlist, in our community and misrepresented it. How ironic that he wrecks the car, used the forum to get advice on repairing it, then lists it for sale with NO mention of the wreck... obviously was too lazy or stupid to realize we'd put it together. IMO, that goes against every fiber of what this forum is all about...

I'll be honest, If I were to post a car that had an accident history the only way a potential buyer going to find out about it is if they ask me, or figure it out when they're looking at it. Then I will do what I can to minimize it and assure the buyer it's straight now. I'm def not going to list in an ad that it's been wrecked.

But I would NEVER post a car here and not disclose EVERYTHING about the car for a potential rennlist brother to buy...
