I know Gooding is a class auction house and they have a lot of high expenses to cover and the room is full of buyers, but man, $55k on the sale of a $250k car. - 22% combined juice. And the Seller has the cost of getting the car to the auction site.

I doubt the seller paid anywhere near 10 percent... The buyer on the other hand if it was sold thru the auction (hammer down) paid a 12 percent buyers premium...

SBCARGUY - what makes you so certain that the seller paid less than 10%? Gooding perhaps might negotiate after the sale if the seller had multiple cars but while it is on the block they are pretty tough about not negotiating.

Being that this is a public forum and I do not know the seller of that 911R... Its tough to say what he paid in commissions... BUT, I have bought and sold cars at EVERY Auction House and personally don't pay a 10 percent commission when selling my cars.

Sellers are focused on net and buyers focused on all-in. But I said 'comped' and those cant be because the auction houses do not publish the net nor necessarily the actual all-in (just the hammer plus the published commission rate which may not be the deal).

New 911R sold this past weekend originally stated $285k as sales price... now adjusted to $313k. Wonder what happened.

It includes 12% buyers premium. They publish it like that to inflate the sale price. One could also argue that it reflects what the buyer is willing to pay and thus is more reflective of market than the hammer price.
