What's going on??

SBCARGUY - what makes you so certain that the seller paid less than 10%? Gooding perhaps might negotiate after the sale if the seller had multiple cars but while it is on the block they are pretty tough about not negotiating.

Being that this is a public forum and I do not know the seller of that 911R... Its tough to say what he paid in commissions... BUT, I have bought and sold cars at EVERY Auction House and personally don't pay a 10 percent commission when selling my cars.

This is why the only numbers that really can be comped are the hammer price or last bid.

I'm sure a potential seller here would focus on the hammer (higher) price. A potential buyer would prefer the net price which the sellers are prepared to receive for letting their cars go. Special VIP auction fee discounts are irrelevant to the average seller paying the advertised rates, as most sellers do.

Maybe they're including the auction fees?

It includes 12% buyers premium. They publish it like that to inflate the sale price. One could also argue that it reflects what the buyer is willing to pay and thus is more reflective of market than the hammer price.
