This project is complete and due to good cabriolet weather, price is reduced to $19,995. It is time for my beloved air-cooled turbo to make room for another. Born as a 1982 911SC coupe, the original owner (California) had it converted into a Speed Yellow 993 Turbo Cab tribute. It has all 993 widebody turbo steel fenders, flairs and rockers and the welds and fabrication was of excellent quality. It has a fairly recently rebuilt 930 turbo engine (see detailed specs below).

The engine dynos 352 hp at the rear wheels (over 400 hp at the crank). The basic engine machine work (line bore, shuffle pinning, etc) was performed by Ollies. Full balancing (crank, rods, pistons, pressure plate) was performed by Dennis Shaw Racing. Heads are ported, polished and dual plugged. 19,000 miles on engine/clutch since rebuild in 2006. 21,000 miles on 915 transmission since rebuild. The chassis has approximately 80,000 miles.

Background on the tribute: 993 Turbo Cabriolets were never officially produced. According to Wikipedia, after the 3.3 liter G-model Turbo convertible (1987–89), Porsche never officially offered an air-cooled Turbo convertible again. However, in 1995 a small number (believed to be 14) 993 Turbo Cabriolets were sold before the introduction of the 993 Turbo coupe. They featured the 360 hp (DIN) single-turbo engine of the 964 Turbo 3.6, a 5-speed manual transmission, rear-wheel drive and the wing of the 964 Turbo 3.6.

This car is very well sorted out. It is an excellent performer that can be driven anywhere. It has never been wrecked. It hasn't been raced, tracked or autocrossed. It is my daily driver and the car we take when we want to go cruising in the country with the top down or to meet Porsche buddies on rambles.

Assuming that you don't want to race it, it is crazy fast and sounds terrific (yes, it will start spinning the tires around 45 mph in 2nd gear at full boost). Just fine for easily merging into highway traffic. The muffler is aggressive without inviting police intervention. The wastegate dumps directly into the exhaust pipe at full boost and the non-recirculating blowoff valve lets you know when you come off of the throttle. It has power brakes but no power steering. You can feel every nuance of the road. I'm really going to miss this car.

Faults - Carpet and interior shows some wear. The engine seeps just a little bit of oil - not a problem (less than my 1996 C2). Boxster wheels require extra spacer for offset.
