All,
hope everyone is having fun in 996 land. i hope to be in another porsche soon.
finally found the boat i've been searching for - just got back from tampa florida.
1987 Luhrs Alura - single yanmar 240hp diesel with bow thruster. only 500 hours on diesel engine. owned for past 15 years by retired airline pilot. in excellent condition and best of any i have looked at.
1987-88 Luhrs were built by the Hunter Marine factory and are 1500 lbs lighter than later models - they have a honeycomb core which give them more strength and much less weight. they cruise at 18mph while burning only 3 gallons per hour. top speed is 24 mph.
unfortunately these boats are on east coast and very rare to find one out here on west coast.
these boats have same hull as the later "Mainship" 30 pilot. the mainship is a beautiful boat but only cruises at 12-13mph and top speed of 16mph.
boat should arrive in seattle mid-november
all the best.

Sweet! Good luck with 'er! Does it have a IMSB? Has it ever failed? Has it been replaced? What kind of oil do you use? Have you replaced the water pump yet? Low temp T-stat? etc. etc. etc...

Congrats.
I've looked into getting a Reinell or Bayliner for myself...then I did the math and looked at how often I would have to use it for it to make sense...and said NO!
The sage rule of "if it flies, floats or f**ks- rent it!" is beyond wise.

'tis the shattered shards of glass of that glimmering hope and possibility, lay strewn about a man's life, that makes the second.

Congratulations! I'm sure you'll have a lot more than two happy days with her. I've been boating for around 40 years and have had many happy days. I'm surprised that a boat of that size has a single screw, but the bow thruster should be a big help.
