Default How tell an S vs later S4 front suspension?

I know the arm lengths are a different size, but are there any other visual differences that jump out? My PO tweaked a number of things on the car so trying to take an inventory of what bits are actually on her.

Thanks!

late upper arms are forged and have a smaller cross section and smoother finish

There's a whole bunch of changes, and there's 6 pages of workshop manual dedicated to the changes. Here's a PDF of those pages.

That looks like the early upper arm not that the pic helps much - there appears to be a circlip there for removal of the ball joint.

If you look at the bracket that holds the shock absorber to the lower arm it should have two notches in the side of it- if so that is the earlier longer arm.

The early type spindles are also different to those of the S4.
