He listed rust as the number one issue. That is way off the mark. I have seen many many many 928s and some that spent their entire lives on the north Atlantic coast with not even a hint of rust on the body. nuts and bolts yes but body no. He also mentioned that every 928 will have something wrong and something along the tune of have someone check it out that you trust. Ironically most Porsche mechanics know squat about 928's. Good to see it mentioned but he just perpetuates the myths about them.

The rust comment seemed like a safe reasonable thing to say when you don't really know much about a specific model old car. I find the bodies outlast every soft or plastic part, followed by the wiring insulation, connectors (the actual wire is really much better than in my 2003 Chevy Suburban).

Nobody is an expert on every car, but what qualifies this clown to determine the 928's value, it's obvious he doesn't know squat about the 928?

I agree that the rust issue being number 1 is way off. However because rust almost never shows up, if a car you are looking at has rust that is a bad sign and probably as good a reason to walk away from it as any other.

Where do they rust? Under the rear wing, yep. battery box? maybe. Maybe some corrosion with grounds or electrical terminals...but rust?
More likely to find a early 911 with lots of rust than a 928

Rear 1/4 windows is somewhat common.

I know two local 928's getting stripped down to have this repaired. When I removed the right rear window from my 80 for paint (from the deer hit) there were signs of rust starting. I'm going to pull the other one now to have it treated & new rubber installed before it becomes a problem.

^^ I know...I told him. He was convinced it would cost too much to bring it back. I have a pic of two more of same or nearly same vintage in the back lot. This is a small independent auto dealer. He's been taking them apart and selling the parts on eBay. I'm pretty sure the engines and transmissions are gone
