My new 99 996 has the original oil pan 996.107.310



I have a parts 2000 C4 with a different 996.107.031.58 that has little jack looking extrusions in the pan.



It also has a different baffle installed 997.107.243



Are these new updated parts worth using instead of the originals?

How do you drive the car?

If you use on track or are generating any cornering G at anytime it is worth upgrading to the X51 baffle to provide that little bit extra protection.

If your not familiar with the X51 do a search there is lots of good info on RL.

I do not see the bottom pan you posted making any difference over the top one from a keeping the oil around the pickup perspective.

 

There are three different oil pan part numbers for the M96 engines, 996-107-031-55, 57, and 58. All the earlier part numbers supersede to the later 58 number. Your early "55" oil pan might be worth tens of thousands of dollars one day. :P

Nope, it's a pan from a 2.5 Boxster. Have you felt any sudden urge to take up hairdressing?

 

Oddly enough, no.

 

Like the Arc of the Covenant, by opening that oil pan you have released unimaginable hair dressing power.

If you track the car, put in an X51 or other track specific baffle, and maybe a deep sump kit. If not, I would put the 997 baffle back.

 

A deep sump is in the cards for the future. Needed to make sure she was going to stay on the road, then track mods.
