Boxster Spyder or 991.1 GT3 - If you could only have 1

Get a manual 997 GT3 (RS) - if only 1 car.

Great input guys. The real answer is most likely a 991.2 GT3. But I found out yesterday that my dealer has gotten 9 allocations and I'm 15 in line so no new GT3 for me in 2018.
I was offered an allocation from another dealer for a $30K fee but turned it down.
Still very intrigued by the Spyder. My only holdback would be tracking it 4-5 days a year. I know I'm pathetic but thats all I'm making it out these days almost exclusively at NJMP where I'm a member.
Maybe I'm asking too much of a car. To be a great weekend car and occasional track car and be a manual and be less than $200K.
The 911R would fit the bill but out of my price window as is the 997 GT3 RS.
Hopefully I'll be driving a Spyder this weekend so I'll get a sense if thats got potential.

I'm frustrated that I can't ring near the potential out of my Spyder on the streets. I can't imagine how frustrated I'd be with a GT3.

Because the possibility of a .1 GT3 manual was squashed when they announced the specs, I opted for a GT4 as soon as announced. As much as I loved the drive, I missed having a drop top. So I sold it a year later for a 981 Spyder with 17 miles on it, and I have to say, the car is an absolute peach. It's so easy to drive hard it feels like cheating. I'm now on the list for a .2 GT3 manual, but I plan to keep the Spyder as well. I haven't owned a GT3 (closest was 997 GTS) but for a fun around town car, or mountain twisties, it's hard to believe it could best the Spyder.

I got the chance to take out a Spyder this morning for a long back roads test drive. The motor, the sound, gear box and handling were all fantastic. Certainly more enjoyable for weekend street fun drives and around town.
The top concerns me though. Its much easier than the earlier version but its still an operation. Do you guys leave the top down when you park it at stores or in lots? or do you take the time to put it up? Id hate to end up not reaching for the keys because the roof is annoying.
Also not sure how id feel taking it on the track? I only do 4-5 days a year and don't need to go 10-10ths but the soft top got me thinking once I was in it.
I did love shifting gears for myself and it has the best short shift of anything I've ever driven.

re track use, I'd never track a convertible but that's just me.

I just like owning a Spyder, whatever model one is talking about.
