We ended up watching the eclipse from BMW's Performance Center, in Spartanburg SC. - a location I'm very familiar with from past vehicle deliveries. (Yes, I drove there in my 911.)

The Schonesland Porsche Club (Des Moines, IA) took to the backroads of IOWA to Cedar Rapids to view the great collection of Porsches displayed at the Porsche 356 Registry's Holiday in Heartland show this weekend. 18 cars and about 30 people made the trip - weather was a little chilly (yes, it can I guess happen in Iowa in August even against all the odds), but everybody had a GREAT time.

A few shots from a Porsche event in Detroit last week.
One of four sessions across the country.
It was a ton of fun and a whole lot of road time in various cars.
The best part was being able to spend some time around the track in the same GTS i ordered, coming Oct. 20 (although mine isn't Carmine).
The wife enjoyed it but it scared her a bit going so fast. I had to buy her a big bottle of wine afterward.

The world's first mountain top observatory. Constructed in 1870's and 80's, from a James Link bequest who is buried under the telescope. He asked that fresh flowers be placed there daily. When I visited a few years ago, the vase below the wood floor held artificial flowers. The entire floor, which raises and lowers to facilitate observing, is also impressive.

What a great car weekend at the GT Challenge. Lots of different cars and great races. Over 160 P-cars represented in the corral (Porscheplatz). Bonus was a couple of parade laps on this beautiful track.
