Track Day Virgin.......Need advice on 1st time out

Get some time with an instructor. My first time they just had me follow someone and I had to figure it out for myself. I wasn't too worried because the track had no walls to hit. I did ok, but on my second trip there, they put me in a different group because I had a little experience. I ended up letting everyone pass me and then a more advanced group caught me which was worse. It is mentally exhausting, so take breaks if you feel the need. If your car is PDK, just put it in sport+ auto and concentrate on the lines.
dont do what this guy did:

Exactly. Just load it in the trailer and don't yammer on about it.

I'll contradict some of the other folks here, but I really wouldn't bother with track insurance if you're going to be in green with an instructor all weekend. You're going to be driving an astoundingly competent car very slowly. Guys start wrecking more in white/black, when they gain a little experience and convince themselves they're fast (but aren't).
If you're PDK I would put it in manual and shift it yourself. Good way to become a better driver. The Sport+ setting means it only shifts at redline, no matter what. I find this highly annoying, and actually distracting, on track.

As I mentioned before, it’s most likely lead/follow and some autocross. Fun, but not a track day per se
I bring my own helmet and balaclava for those more for higiene purposes.

which reminds me
Porsche and Lotus require soft hands through transitions - e.g. a smooth transfer of weight from left rear to right rear

He said he was a "driving god".........He doesn't know how lucky he was, notice how close the window was to the barrier ipso facto his head. Side impacts are the absolute worst.
