996 c4s air box bolt siezed
Hi all
l am a new owner of a 2004 C4s its a nice car but needs a little tlc and that's just fine for me.
have owned many Porches over the years but decided a nice late model 996 C4s manual car would do the job as my weekend toy.
However I would like to do some basic maintenance myself including oil and filter and air filter.
So the air box bolt far right in the corner of the engine is seized so before I get the drill out, would just like to ask if any one else has any thoughts for me please ?
Thanks
Anthony

Try Kroil. It is "creeping oil". Put a few drops in and let it work its way through the threads. Attack it again tomorrow. I use it alot on guns and old rusted parts. Pretty much miraculous stuff.

Hey Anthony,
Just an FYI if you haven't done this already you can actually remove the entire airbox complete that way its easier to get to those screws.
Let me know if you need the steps to remove it.

I always remove the air filter box...it is super easy to do. See steps here http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...Air_Filter.htm

1. Detach MAF plug (single clip under the plug)
2. Undo jubilee clip onto throttle body
3. Undo retaining bolt (13mm)
4. Undo two clips that hold the MAF wire in place (these will potentially break - have a few handy from the dealership if possible p/n: 999 507 544 40)
5. Pull out entire airbox - no need to remove the snorkel as you'll just risk breaking the plastic tabs (pre 2002 the boxes dont have clips)
6. There are two rubber grommets for the pins on the bottom of the box make sure you don't loose them as you pull out the box. Later 997 grommets have little tabs to keep them in place.

Good luck!
