Finally home!
After first locating this rarity at the Porsche Parade on June 24th, 2013 at 12:52 pm (who's counting) my 4+ year chase has ended with a successful purchase.
First off - I want to thank U-BOAT Steve for his continuous use of the car as Porsche intended for so many years. This GT has covered a whopping 144,928 miles and remains in excellent condition. Sure, there is road rash and thinning paint, but it is intact, has no cracks in the dash and has the rich patina that only a driven car can have.
Besides the obligatory wash, maintenance and general cleanup, I am doing nothing but research for the foreseeable future, reflecting on the fact that: A car can always be restored, once restored, it can never be original again. Patina is earned, it is not sprayed on, not meticulously crafted, not easy to get.
This car is not only unique - it has lived its life on the highways of America being seen and enjoyed...
Feel free to join in the documentation of the car with photos or thoughtful contributions to it's history.
Dave

Congrats on the acquisition.
It sounds like an amazing car.
But how are we to know that?
How can we see how awesome it truly is?
The peanut gallery beat me to it, so I will simply state:
Post some pics, please.
Edit to add:
Oops. Beat me to it.
Cool car. Thanks for the pics.

I should have bought stock in Leatherlique! It is drinking it by the quart and the seats are regaining their softness and shape.
