I just want to clarify that $4,700 number as being the price of a new, factory GTS turbo alone and $4,200 for a Base/S turbo. If you go with an aftermarket tune be it Cobb, GIAC, etc and a factory turbo blows you'll be responsible to buy a new one at whatever price your dealer will charge because Porsche will not warranty that turbo. That was not an installation cost. You'll never see us (Suncoast Parts) quote labor over the phone or online.
UPDATE! Porsche is now including the brake cooling hardware and we have adjusted the price of the kit. At the new lower price it's even more of an amazing deal than before!

OK that is way, way out of line - ask them for a break down of the hours. Ask them why their quote is radically different from Porsche recommended installation time.
Glad to hear that wasn't a Suncoast number - they were very good to deal with.
As in one of my previous posts, the dealership wanted to treat the installation two phases "initial prep work and installation of all components will tally 17.5 hours. The calibrations, coding, alignment, setting readiness and driving the car, will tally an additional 6 hours." Thus, at their labor rate I would be paying $12,200US which equates to about $400 per horsepower.
I'm glad to see Suncoast has stepped up by reducing their already attractive price.
How many hours will you be charged to get the unit installed and properly ready for the road?
I’m interested, particularly at the new price. Suncoast, can we get a copy of the installation instructions so we can decide if it can be done in a home garage, with the ecu flash done at the dealer after the hardware install? Thanks
Here in the UK I have been quoted by my dealer £4072 for the kit and £1350 for fitting. So £5422, which is roughly $7050 all in. I do have PCCB and RWS so not sure if this has affected the quote? Haven't spoken to the dealer yet - this info was supplied by email.

I was quoted $3k for the installation by my dealer. I won't do the project if I'm paying that much for the installation. I really need installation instructions from somewhere to help me decide if this is even feasible for a self install (less ecu flash).

Has a dealership confirm to you that they will do the software install, if you do the hardware install? I think it is going to be hard to find a dealership to agree to that. Good luck.
Flickroll the installation document is thirty pages long. I have a copy but can't pass it on (watermark). There are numerous diagrams and pictures that refer to parts - you need to take the rear suspension assembly out..............
Ask your dealer to show you the instructions then you can make up your mind
The document is "Power Kit (I-no. X51) 911 (991) 8/17 EN 1001" Installation and Modification Instructions.
My service centre gave me a copy so that I could make the decision - yours will do the same.
The tools are as follows (in addition)
Transmission and unit jack Junior Jack 2.0
Separating device
Puller set
Tie-wrap pliers
Pressure piece
Puller hook
Press-on sleeve
PIWIS Tester 3
Attachments
Supplementary set
Test card
Pressure piece
Holding rails
Run in: Engine speeds greater than 5,000 rpm are not permitted over a distance of 500 km (310 miles). The maximum engine power of 331 kW (450 hp) depends on the total mileage of the engine at the time of the retrofit and is achieved at a total mileage of approx. 10,000 km (6,250 miles) or higher.

This is very helpful and confirms to me I'm not going to tackle this project. When the car is being manufactured that seems like that is the only time to do it that makes sense. I have a build on order but am over budget as is and don't want to take out options that I have added in order to add the Powerkit. I think I will wait and hope that Cobb cracks the ecu and comes up with an ecu tune later on. Thanks all for the info.
The install, in total is 12 hours - this is official.
In terms of times the 9A2 in X51/GTS configuration delivers some blistering outcomes - perhaps the most interesting are the results from Hockenheim Short (times by Chris Gebhardt - from Sport Auto)
918 1:06.3
991.2 GT3 1:07.9 991.2 GTS/X51 1:08.1(PDK - RAS)
991.1 GT3 RS 1:08.5
991.1 R 1:09.1
991.1 GT3 1:09.2
991.2 S 1:09.6
981 GT4 1:10.1
991.1 GTS 1:10.9
718 S 1:11.0
991.1 S 1:11.7
991.1 base 1:12.2
The X51 kit attached to the 9A2 delivers a huge amount of bang for buck - 150HP per litre Vs 991.2 GT3 132HP per litre. Yet there is still more headroom (I am not going to explore it further, but others will).
"Fabulous time in Hockenheim for Porsche 911 Carrera GTS. And then came the 17th March 2017: Hockenheim, 11.46 clock, the current Porsche 911 Carrera GTS runs in 1.08.0 minutes around the small course and lifts the 911 world from the angling. Thus, the GTS was faster than any series-8, which has so far covered our reference track with us in the test and Supertest. No 911 turbo (best time so far 1.08.2 min), no GT3 RS (best time so far 1.08.5) and also not the legend GT2 RS (best time 1.08.4 min) laid such a round time, like the crimson painted 911 GTS. "
Per the link, the Hockenheim short time for the GTS is 1:08 flat, faster than a 991.1 GT3 RS (1.08.4) and 991.1 TURBO (1.08.2). That is CRAZY. Hard to tell from the translation, but that 991.2 GTS tested might have been running p nero Corsas... I hope so. Otherwise, if it was running stock p zeros (non corsas), it would be faster still with Corsas.
Also, tested at Nordschleife at 7:24, another insane number. Per this article, way faster than new NSX (7:36) that was running Trofeo R's! btw, the NSX ran Hockenheim at 1:10 on Trofeos... (https://translate.google.com/transla...e/&prev=search)
Not that the NSX is the fastest thing out there, but it gives perspective.
Other nordschleife times per the NSX article linked:
"The NSX landed in the direct competition only behind Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 and Porsche 911 GT3 RS (both 7.28 min), Audi R8 V10 Plus (7.32 min), Porsche 911 Turbo S (7.34 min) and McLaren 650S (7.35 min). But who would have thought the Honda NSX could keep up so well? Five years ago, his round-ness on the ring would have been an absolute sensation. On the north loop he leaves behind sports car helmets such as the Lexus LFA, the Ferrari 458 Italia, the Corvette ZR1 and the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera (every 7.38 min). With 7.36 minutes the Honda is just as fast as the 530 hp strong version of the Nissan GT-R as well as the current Mercedes-AMG GT S. To the mourning for NSX fans is therefore no reason at all. On the contrary, the hybrid NSX is 33 seconds faster than the legendary NSX-R, which in 2002 became a super-test. "
A 7:24 for the 991.2 GTS is MENTAL. For reference: Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 and Porsche 911 GT3 RS (both 7.28 min), Audi R8 V10 Plus (7.32 min), Porsche 911 Turbo S (7.34 min) and McLaren 650S (7.35 min).
Holy mother of gods....
