Garage Flooring Ideas
#48
I'm remodeling my garage in anticipation of my 911 coming in. I have an appointment tomorrow with Granite Garage Floors to undo the crappy DIY expoxy the previous owner used. Comes with a lifetime warranty and the floors I've seen done look terrific.
Looking at this finish called "Granite Porsche Red"

That's a handsome finish that grey/white/black/red, but its going to be nearly impossible to find small parts on the floor if you work on your vehicles in the garage. That's nearly perfect camouflage!

I have the epoxy (urethane top coat) with large chips (black, white, gray) -- granite looks. Goes up about 6 inches on the walls -- professionally installed. It looks good, very durable, easy to clean -- nothing sticks to it. It's smooth, other than the chips that give it some grip to prevent slipping. Frequently clean it with a lithium battery power blower, and also power wash it on occasion. One house with about 1000 sq ft garage it was about $3,500; other house with 700 sq ft it was about $2,500. Great solution. Had the work done prior to moving in, and waited 7 days for it to cure. Perfect job in both houses. Perhaps not as flashing as some of those tiles, but easy to live with, and it does look good.

I also had that Granite Garage Floor type floor. I really liked it except when it was wet. REALLY slippery and my kids wiped out on it all the time. I'm building 2 garages right now and debating what I will use.

It's pretty common practice to use a anti-slip additive to coating based garage floors... Yours evidently didn't have any, and yes, they can be EXTREMELY slippery when wet if not added.
