I get this move towards a better handling crossover from 955/957 rugged design because the market use for these cars mostly involves malls, schools and supermarkets.
Hopefully the healthy margins from selling 958s will continue to fund R&D for the GT program.

Just when I thought they couldn't make it look any more like a japanese minivan, they commit further towards the awful styling concepts.
I may just start buying up low mileage 955's and 957's so that I don't have to worry about the next bad decisions they will make in the future. Luckily I have a 955CTT with 65k miles on it that should last me a while since I spread the miles out between a number of vehicles.

Actually, not really a minivan lookalike as in previous years. The rear taillight fascia has been re-designed à-la 991 with a wraparound lens. I wonder if the taillight will have the Porsche script?
They cleverly tried to disguise the rear lens with a body-colored vinyl wrap; as they did with their fake headlight image.
It's nice to see that one of the field engineers likes Martini Racing...

Honestly, pretty underwhelming. Looks more like a mid-cycle refresh than a new vehicle. I'm sure the interior will be a clone of the Panamera's.
Anyone else worried that the "smaller rear side windows" will translate to less cargo room? I mean, if I wanted a smaller SUV, I'd buy a Macan. As it is, I want them to make MORE cargo room than the 958, closer to the Q7 (but not quite as big).
Hmm, looks like my CD won't be looking too dated. Good.

One of my few complaints about my 958.1 is how much space is lost due to how much the D pillar is raked, and now they are taking more.
There is no U left in modern SUVs
Thankfully I have my CD and have always planned on driving it into the ground. Hopefully by then what is old will be new and we'll have useful SUVs again...

Actually - if you really look at these photos/video - and then look at a Macan - might this be the mid-cycle Macan "refresh"? The roof line certainly looks like a Macan as does the rear-hatch and bumper. Be the usual Porsche refresh - new lights, a few gee-gaws and by gawd - we have a fresh new vehicle for all the road tests to rave over. Considering the competition they're now getting from multiple source (like Jag) - it wouldn't surprise me a bit.

It's the 2018/2019 Macan "refresh"
http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...mage=100591501
LOTS of articles about it - just Google "2018 Macan Refresh"..
In particular - note the roof-seam right above the C pillar.. and the sequential test number on the back window (one of the claimed Cayennes has "C7" - this Macan has "C8")
