Chances are likely you are correct in your fair assumption, however it appears that in the meantime (as it were), someone parked a white econobox where a red 928 was.
Maybe Joe Rusz and John Lamm took #6 out for a spin.
That white econobox, my friends, is a VW Rabbit (or Golf, as the rest of the world called it). Fine company, especially if it's a GTI.

Fine company my foot! Even if it's a GTI it has no business next to a 928.

Variety is the spice of life. They're all fun in their own way.

They get along just fine parked next to each other in my garage.

Oh Brilliant!!! The history!!!

Great "synopsis" board in the rear Droo, incidentally what are the cards that appear tucked into the outer window trim?

Didn't Porsche cram a 928 motor into a golf for testing???

Maybe that's her?

No it was an Audi 100 that was the test mule.

There were a handful of 928s that were rebodied to look like the VW Golf. While superficially similar, anyone looking closely could see that they were not really a stock golf.

The Rabbit GTI up until recently (and still sometimes) is worth more than the same year 928. $8,000 new vs $50,000. Plus the GTI is a ball to drive. I had an A2, still may be the best car I've ever owned.

And let's not forget this "marriage" of the 928 and Golf...

Can't wait to see that car!

It's the closest I'll ever be to the 928 history for sure.

Beautiful car.
Congrats sir.

Wow, I just love this stuff. Keeps me inspired, keeps me going.
One more day and I'm on my way. Can't wait to be there!

Love that pics of Ed too! Appears the driver seat with the VIN plate is the money-shot.
