Porsche finally gets that chrome/silver trim is not good
Of course you have to spend $300k plus on a GT2RS to do it.
Note that the speaker trim is black and the door pulls are black (eliminating the silver door handles). The airbag ring, handles for the vents, and glove box latch remain silver of course.
I added painted vents to get the vent surrounds in leather ($1720) to completely eliminate the silver trim. You can do the same with them in leather on a normal car.
And the GT steering wheel has black inserts on the GT cars (maybe they can be swapped on non-MF or just buy the whole wheel for $995, but I have never seen the black inserts with MF).
I wonder how much in CXX money the black door pulls and the black speaker grill trim would cost ...

Ha I guess different strokes for different folks because I much prefer the silver to the boring monochrome black. That said I would much prefer the GT2 RS to my car lol

Speaker grills? They are black for base and Bose.
I think you're thinking about the door handle pull. On the RS and R they're black not silver.
Nothing unique to this car over a GT3 RS, etc. interior wise.

Were options on 991.1 GTS's I know here:

Sorry, door handle pull trim that surrounds the speaker grill not the grill itself. :-)
The GT3RS is similar, but the GT3 still has silver bits.
Let's see some mahagony pics as that is what I ordered on my C2. My point was that even with the door/console/dash trim on a Carrera you have silver door handles, vent surrounds, steering wheel trim and door handle trim. On the GT2RS, you don't have anything but the vents.
I don't mean to cast aspersions if you like silver trim, to each his own, I just thought it was interesting. I am going to ask if I can get the GT2RS black speaker/door handle trim as CXX or at least get a price.
The aluminium in anthracite is standard dash/console/doors (door trim only with full leather interior) on GTS and above cars. On a Carrera you can get the trim in leather, wood, carbon fiber, or painted (except if you do LTS you can't get it in leather and if you do PTS you can't get it painted -- both subject to the CXX exception -- I heard $3k for painted trim).

When I first read the post lead in, I thought that Porsche had finally, and rightfully, IMO, concluded they needed more color options for the interior trim.
Wrong!
A "new" shade of black as a difference maker? Laughable.
Black, I think, is supposed to convey a, sort of, subdued sophistication. Shades of black on black - clever sophistication. But what black is is - it's visually safe. Rightly so. Other than that, it's the most boring, unimaginative and overused color that can be selected.
Porsche needs to open up the color palette for the interior trim, beyond the usual exterior color.

^^ I agree. All black is usually what you get with the cheapest of the cheap cars out there. Plus, excessive black shows EVERY little dust particle.
Some contrast is always nice and highlights features.
