Porsche Connect
Have you ever had: "Porsche Connect not available: App is currently not available, please try again later"?
I was in an area of good cellphone reception.
I logged in to my account on-line and found that my subscription ends on 4/28/18.

I called porsche connect support (open on July 4th!) and they said it may have do do with me not activating AT&T service. Does anyone else have this experience? Is the SIM slot compatible with other 4G services?

I understand it can be used with other services but there are limits to what is available if you are not in one of the main coverage areas --- what I understand is that with the top level of service from any carrier will work, however any area of less than top level service may not be compatible with the Porsche unit.... sorry I can't remember the exact details but a search should help .... I just decided I did not want to screw with it and bought an AT&T sim.

I have an AT&T SIM card. The one included with the vehicle. Porsche Connect was working when I received the car. I am getting a call back tomorrow AM. I'll keep everyone posted.

Did you go to www.myvehicle.att.com and establish the account yourself? Don't trust the dealer to do this for you. Once you have done this, it will show you how much free data you have left and how to buy more.

Is there a way to have Porsche Connect tether data from the phone rather than the SIM card? $20/month is not worth it.

I tether it to my Verizon iPhone; I cancelled the ATT data plan so I just took the sim card out permanently. And although I do have to open the hotspot each time, I don't have to disable my Bluetooth. Having a Cayenne for work and my Targa, I find this far more satisfactory than two additional monthly data charges.

Can somebody tell me what other services this provides besides a hotspot in the car to connect other devices. I'm not 100% clear I know what else the Service gives me?? And if I need to continue it

But, Porsche gives you car connect for one year. So those services should remain for one year regardless of the ATT data plan which I understood was for wifi in car only? I am confused?!?!
