If this is an '08 .1 car (has .2 taillights), do yourself a favor before reattaching the transmission and pull the seal off the IMS bearing to achieve better lubrication since you can't replace it. Also, I'm not sure I'd upgrade the clutch as it will likely just cause grabbiness and sacrifice driveability. I run the stock clutch in my supercharged 997 C2S and it handles the roughly 475 HP I'm putting down just fine.
I like your thought about the ducktail without the big rear wing. Big wings look cool on coupes, but funny on cabs. About the largest wing that looks good on a cab IMO is the TT one. Worst one I've seen was in a Vossen post on their red wheels on a grey Liberty Walk 997.

Thanks for the details!
For the IMS, is it an easy job that we can do or do you need specialized tools ?
There seems to be a few different types so am trying to find some references about the process for my specific car / the actual parts / best place to buy them?
It's funny you mention LBW...we wanted over the top styling and it was the original plan for the car, but couldn't end up justifying cutting the guards for something that might go out of fashion in 5 years.
(much like some of the gemballa creations , LBW is a love it or hate it style)
For the ducktail , probably going GT3RS, and smoothing over the upright cutouts for now, similar to the car below.

I'm in the "hate it" camp on LBW kits. IMO, you want a widebody 997, you have to do it like Champion did where the flares are molded in, not bolted on like the 4x4 pickup ones
I like your ducktail concept without the top wing blade and filled edges - that will look aggressive, but nice on a cab setup.
Regarding your question on the IMS bearing seal, you don't need anything special to remove the seal on the bearing itself - just a small pick and make sure you get all the pieces. Once that's done, you will need a new RMS seal - the newer-style multi-ridged PTFE one and also the proper tool to install it perfectly square and to the proper depth, which I believe is 14mm on the newer style seal, not 13mm like the previous one.
Here's what the tool looks like - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Crankshaft-S...JY9SJM&vxp=mtr
You might be able to borrow the tool from your indy or dealer if you have a good relationship, or maybe rent it from another member via an ad in the Marketplace.
With the late 2005-2008 997.1 cars that have the larger IMS bearing, it's too big to be able to remove it, so the best preventative maintenance you can do is remove the seal on the bearing iteself so it gets better lubricated by the oil it's sitting in. The problem is that with the seal in place, the oil will wash out the original grease from the bearing, but the seal will not allow enough fresh oil to circulate for proper lubrication, which can cause the failure (though very low if any incidence of failure of the larger bearing except on track cars).
With the rear hood, the plan is to run the ducktail sans-wing, but it also seems the cabrio cover is still a fair way off lining up with a GT3RS ducktail hood...
Looking at pictures it seems the GT3RS / Cup Car have a different panel above as well, which i am guessing is the reason.
From the way i see it, the only option would be to modify the cabrio hood : Am considering whether to take a mold the hood and build it in fibreglass to remove the brake light area and then graft the other panel to it, however i am worried this may not look right / might ruin the lines..
Does the 997.1 CUP CAR rear wing have the same issue? Or is it a problem coupe - cabrio? (i assumed they have the same boot lids?)
From photos it looks like it lines up with the original upper panel?
(if so this may be the easier option, even though the 997.1 isn't as aggressive as the 997.2)
As for the rear bar was interesting to note that the 997.2 wide body rear bar seems to fit the narrow body perfectly, i guess the extra width doesn't really occur.
Makes me wonder if the later model GT2/GT3RS Side Rocker panels will fit a narrow body as well ?

....still waiting on parts, so decided to make a little teaser video in the meantime ! (featuring a couple of our drift cars as well)
Car really still looks a bit like a mish mash, and maybe a little too much attention on the (mostly) stock suspension and subframe haha but at least the video pans are on point.
Fabricating the exhaust today , Almost ready for paint...
Car is a narrow body , and work wheels sit perfect for a stock car, but not 100% considering how agressive i want the final version to sit.
Specs:
19x8.5 +48 (25) +23
19x11 +55
If i had my time again, should have probably gone with a staggered setup :
18x9.5 +15 front
19x12 +55 rear
Front wheels currently have a 25mm spacer, which probably needs to be 45mm thanks to the cup car flares (just need to work out how we will fix the scrubbing)... rear needs a 10mm spacer i would say.
It's hard to gauge given the white flares and front bar throw your eye off a bit, but once we throw in some coilovers, do a wheel alignment and sort out the inner scrubbing it should sit better...
H&R / CarGraphic lowering springs were a bit of a waste of time... front is nice, but the rear almost looks higher (i'm hoping it settles a bit after a drive)
Will probably end up going with a PASM compatible coilover.
Depending on the final color we go with, might end up changing the wheels anyway.

Been a while since posting but the car is getting closer to completion! Has spent the last month being stripped (again) for a full top to bottom respray , have 2 sets of wheels organised as well ( the work meisters will be for daily duties and some custom flow form semi-forged concave 20" wheels we will be using for show)
Also a big thank you to Albert motorsport in Germany! For the 997.2 light upgrades we initially planned to do a control unit upgrade but found out the Albert motorsport make these excellent custom looms for both the front DRL & indicators as well as .2 led tail lights.
Installation was extremely easy being plug and play replacement for the factory lighting harness and they work perfectly without the need to upgrade anything else!
