My light will come on now, a new thing after about 10 mins of driving then will go off after a few minuets, it will do this a 2 times then stay off.

Brand new belts, tight and fine. New alternator not because of this, it just started happening. Oil temp is fine and normal.

I ordered a new sensor, this one has 180k on it. They call it a temp sensor but it's that wheel that rides on the belt and lets you know if it broke.

Is that what they do before the sensor fails or is that pointing towards something else.

I had the same issue about a month ago. Replaced the sensor and all is good. A little challenging changing it, but look at some of the popular sites for DIY repairs. One thing I would add that on the new one I zip tied the wheel back to the frame to make it easier to install. Then, just clip the zip tie when you get the new one in place.

You need to be able to trust the function of the sensor. Replace if there is any question. The design is not robust.

The micro switch lever rides against the movable arm. Over time this wears an indent into the plastic, causing erratic behavior as the spinning belt moves the arm in & out depending on rpm.

At least that's what I found with my sensor years ago. It found a new home in the trash and was never replaced.

Other than an RS-style hub and machined pulleys, isn't the Rothsport gear still a v-belt setup with shims?

I have the Clewett serpentine setup.

In that pic, the car is on four 11,000-lb AC stands and the engine is resting on two of the normal 6,000-lb stands. The garage no longer looks that horrific.
