Yes, it's mine but I don't want to tarnish the forum with off brands. I got 2000-miles/year-old-man insurance on the six eight so the brz fulfills that needed dopamine/adrenalin rush.

After porting the intake/exhaust ports I smoothed them out with the standard abrasive rolls. Cleaned carbon off. Then lapped the valves, cleaned the head & painted it titanium graphite engine paint.

I've always thought your car looks incredible. I used to have your avatar's photo on my garage wall.

Quick & dirty paint job for the lowering springs.

Do most people install the tightly spaced coils towards the bottom?

I did not trust the valve seals... they didn't look "new" like you'd expect on a rebuilt head. Fortunately I had new Porsche brand ones in stock (that cost me 9X what the aftermarket ones cost. Grrr) Anyway, this project is deserving of the best I can afford. Which is nothing right now, I'm flat broke again. 13mm socket gently pressed on new seals. easy-peasy.

Took time to re-clean the valves & seats with brake clean and cloth (the last thing I want going in the cylinders is abrasive). Also important to note the lapping compound can cause corrosion and since it'll be 4-5 weeks until this engine fires up I liberally applied engine oil in the guides on the seals on the seats & the valves.

951 brand new valve springs ready to get clamped in.

most tape the keeper groves to keep from marring the seal when you guide them over the valve tip.

Noah,
Sorry I totally forgot to message huh then either day - clutch stuff is in the mail. Shipping came out to $180...I promise that was the cheapest! It was sent priority though because that was the only option for that size of box. Let me know if you have any issues with it. The disc looks a little weird (fibers poking out) because I cleaned it up with steel wool and it snagged a little. I'd recommend getting a Cup disc, they're pretty cheap. Also, I got the bellhousing decently clean after all.

You're right. That colour is very nice. I watched a video on the new Miata after your suggestion. Finally it doesn't look like a girls ride.

Like electrical tape? Hmmm, an interesting thought. I am inclined to think the shop reused seals or beat them up with tools on install or valve lapping.

I was very surprised how much corrosion on the exhaust valves was evident. I suspect that's my doing (my usage with a not very well "tuned") engine management system.

I'm really seeing how STARTING engine mods with a stand alone system is the ticket, rather than waiting until late. It's all getting clearer...

The oil pan baffle install kit. Last week I trimmed the collar to fit. I was lazy and tacked it in while the tube was in the engine. I started a fire under Wilson. Geezus.

I'm so stupid. Anyway the pickup is on the bench, like I planned before getting lazy (so I will replace the oil pick tube o-ring).

The instructions say to tack the collar on. That makes no sense. In order to provide function as intended it needs 100% full weld at top, so thats whats getting done.

I've seen that debate before. It makes 100% sense to me what you, and many others, have said about it.

However, it just makes me scratch my head that the Lindsey boys would drop the ball like that. I don't see them as traditional snake oil salesman.

I think next time I talk to Mike, I'm going to get his take on the tack weld debate with the slosh plate and collar.

My guess is under testing it didn't make much difference. I don't see how that could be, so I would like to hear what their thinking is.

I think the oil pump gasket has been leaking for 5 years. Not any more.
