Default Replacement Key Needed

Following a Major home renovation my key seems to be missing. Kept that sucker for 14 years and not a week after it goes on sale the key disappears

What is the cheapest way to get a key...through porsche or can some locksmiths create these keys ?

Default Nup

Had a spare made but guess what...it does not work ! A local well respected locksmith told.me he could make one if he had the key code. What are the chances the dealer/Porsche will come off this info ? He said if I have that it's $20.

I ordered a blank and I only have one original key, other is somewhere hiding in my house

So, what are next steps, Dealer or hardware store to use my blank against original?

You can try a dealer... they may want to cut the key.

Regarding cutting the key with one handy... I just used a local locksmith and it turned out perfect but I'm sure a hardware store could do it if the guy cutting the key has 1/2 a clue. Keep in mind worn keys can be funky to cut right

Some free advice to the OP. If you locate the code empty the bank account and spring for 2 keys.

You can pull one the lock cylinders out the door and a locksmith can cut a key with that.

When I wanted a spare for my car I ordered a blank from porsche but had it cut by a guy on my local market. There is no way I'd be paying anyone more than a fiver to get it cut as they aren't anything special!

Check with all the stuff the PO gave you, these originally came with a flat black plastic key for this type of emergency and when you need to get another cut.

The key the previous owner gave me when I bought my car was trashed. It must have been the original 20 year old key. It didn't work on the hood latch or the glovebox. When I had a legit locksmith copy it, it would only work in my ignition. I had them remake it three times and it still wouldn't work. I went to Circe Porsche and gave them my VIN and they ordered me a key cut to my VIN. It was a perfect. It looked totally different than the worn out old key and it worked perfectly in every lock on the car. Well worth he $65 or so dollars I spend.

Found a pic. New key on top, old key on bottom

+1 order a new key with your vin. I replaced the keys on both of my cars, the new ones fit and work much better. It's amazing how much the old ones were worn

I got (2) new keys recently by ordering from my dealership. Keys need to be cut from Germany, but it gets here within 5 business days. Cheapest way is to order them without the keyfob heads. Should be about $80-110 each. I forgot.

I took the code card to the dealer (Brumos at the time), and they cut me a new one while I waited. Was about $60 for the blade and key head, IIRC.
