I noticed a couple of drops of oil under my 2007 Turbo, 18k miles. Under the left rear. It's spread out a bit and only leaks after driven and warm. I've attached a picture and wondered if anyone had a suggestion. I may just try and clean the area and see where leak starts.
I haven't had to tear into this area before, but looking at the PET it looks like the sealing ring that Kevin was talking about is # 7 on the diagram. Less than $2 from your friendly Porsche dealer..
Might make sense to replace #6 as well? It's hard for me to know exactly without looking at it in person. Its about $26, so maybe look at it first to see if it needs to be R&Red?
Also, dont completely discount the possibility that the leak could be coming from the tandem pump O-rings as well..
I'm betting number 7 or number 9 on Saabin's parts list.
A nice afternoon job>>it takes more time to clean all the oil smudge.
Do a oil change a lube your VNT linkages...
Turned out to be a loose bolt/plug, see pic. The star head. Could heat from DE event loosen this up? Awesome Euro car shop in my area (NW IN) found and tightened it without raking me over the coals.
Mine leaked there too. That bolt keeps one of the small chain guides in place. I think they have a small seal on the other side, can’t quite remember. I replaced mine when I pulled the engine. No leak anymore. I did try tightening it first before I replaced everything and unfortunately it did not do the trick for me.
I have a similar leak, but on the passenger side. I took it apart and cleaned the connections. There's an aluminum washer where the fitting connects to the pump, and the a barrel-style connection between the line and fitting. So #7 above is in play, but not #9. Will see if this fixes it.
