Default Hood Louver Install

Been keeping myself busy working on the car while waiting for the snow to melt so I can drive it for 1 month before it snows again. Installed some hood louvers for maximum heat extraction. install, with pics. they actually clear everything in the engine bay, barely. should be enough clearance if the engine moves around.

Im not a pro at bodywork, or fabrication, so with that said, I think I did alright
lots of pics

powercoated. Finding ideal placement. not really much of a choice where to put them.

Cardboard Fiber hood for maximum weight reduction.

After removing the oil soaked hood insulation, I measured up where they would go.

placement on top of hood

After having heart attack from cutting holes in hood, this is result.

seeing how they fit.

Louver placement in hood. They fit pretty well.

A couple hundred pounds of welding rods works well for holding them in place while the glue cures.

Woah!! Also picked up some sweet BBS wheels, they weigh about the same as my phonies.

Louvers double as speed brakes.

Placement allows easy visibility of those pesky fuel line fires.

And thats what it looks like.

Are those louvres adjustable? That would be handy on wet days. Be good to see what difference you get in temps?

I wish they were adjustable. Might as well have a giant hole in my hood right over my exhaust manifold and turbo. Should help when the radiator fan kicks in.
I'm surprised no one makes a servo operated hood louver. I will have to fab up some sort of drip tray I can snap in place when it's raining harsh. Or I can always make covers.

Nice install. I saw those louvers online 1 or 2 months ago & was impressed.

What did you use for glue & will it stand up to the engine bay heat?

Note: good photos to demonstrate some pretty massive venting. Please let us know your thoughts after using them!

I was going to use a body panel epoxy but chose something with more flexibility. I decided on 3m window weld. I figure if it can hold a window in a window channel it can hold my louvers to bottom of hood. It's good enough for tranny mounts. Don't like rivets.

heat extraction is what you would expect from having two giant holes in the hood. I can see heat rising out of them on colder days. Im sure they will definitely help exhaust heat exit as well as turbo.

Nice install. Those hood vents look pretty aggressive.
