The Cliff's Notes version: If you want to go really fast, shift when the needle gets to the red place on the tach
This is true. In order to get max power out of these engines you must shift at read line despite the power dip. Short shifting these engines is not fast.
Grant thanks for pulling the gear ratios together - see below for various P car torque curves including the 991.1 GT3. The shift points and ratios make perfect sense (as you would expect) when you view them relative to the torque curves (assuming a run out to the redline before change) e.g. GT3 - shift from 1st to second at redline, 2nd starts at ~ 5500rpm, for the GT4 2nd is at ~ 4500 rpm and the 991.2 C2S 2nd is at ~ 4000 rpm.
GT3 redline in 1st @ 52mph, 2nd gear rpm at 52mph ~ 5500, 332hp in second gear at 5500rpm - its easier to look at the graphs
GT4 redline in 1st @ 48mph, 2nd gear rpm at 48mph ~ 4500, 257hp in second gear at 4500rpm
C2S(.2) redline in 1st @ 43mph, 2nd gear rpm at 43mph ~ 4150, 296hp in second gear at 4150rpm
I was bored and I believe a picture is worth 1000 words. All in the name of power under the curve.
Has anyone found a 991.2 GT3 torque curve.........I suspect it will be very interesting
Generally, you're either good in shifting and using H&T or you're not. There is no in between. Most should save themselves the embarrassment and get PDK-S and be done with it. Let the computer manage the shifting while you do the driving.
BTW, the recommendation for maximum performance that you should shift at redline is difficult to do. If you wait until redline, your shifting too late because of the delay in your reaction time. If you do it sooner, then you missing the optimal shift point. Good luck in making that work.

That fact that it's not easy without concentrating is part of the attraction...
It's hard enough for me pulling the flappy at the last moment without hitting the rev limiter LOL.
With the .2 GT3 manual you have a little more time to shift, since there are only 6 ratios where you have 7 and the redline is a bit higher which is good for another blink

Only at Daytona would one need 6th. I guess I could save a tiny bit of time slapping the shifter into auto VIR the 4-5 gear shift on the back and front straight at Sebring but I don't like auto in most corners..

I'm sold on PDKS unless I have an older lighter car and move to where the roads are fun..
