Default Today's insane question: Tow capacity of a Porsche carrera S?

does anyone know the tow capacity of a 997.2 S?

I was thinking how cool would it be if I could move across country with just my Carrera and an enclosed trailer (as long as my possessions are under a certain weight.)

that U.K. Tow article was awesome...but confusing. Some 997s can tow 2900 lbs, and some can tow 7700 ? How can it be such a huge difference ? Is that combined vehicle + trailer weight on some and not the others ?

WillWood makes a trailer system.... This was my hillbilly-rigged luggage carrier when SHE came into my life. This is her makeup carrier. I installed the Willwood bicycle carrier and strapped on HER stuff.

The receivers attache to the brackets behind the bumperetts although you have to cut a sliver slot out of their sides.

Check out the WillWood trailer systems here:

I did a quick read of the UK stuff and they are basically taking the weight of the car, adding 85% of that and the sum is the amount of car and tow that would be allowed. For some reason the website is then adding on another huge amount of weight. Its not based on any factory information, just generic formula. There was references to the formula being espoused by UK RV clubs long ago and because of the internet the information won't die.

FYI if you really wanted to tow the big issues are if its a one shot deal and the other is to figure out what tongue weight the car could handle. With one shot attempt you could ignore heating issues, brakes, etc.

I checked my registration snd as I can remember I can pull 1600 kilo or 3527 pounds. Actually - I could pull quite a decent caravan

I have a C2S cabrio.

According to the UK website both my Carrera and my Chev Suburban have the same towing capacity. I am just a tiny bit skeptical.

It's not something I would do, but people do use them for towing.
