Default Rotor Upgrade, S3

Hey guys, I started to change out front rotors and pads today.
Went from solid stock rotors to the cross drilled Zimmerman's.
Old rotors measure 29.8 mm, and new 32 mm.

Current pads are what I'm calling stock OEM. I lost track which was inboard v. outboard, but measurements were 9 and 7mm. The car has never had any dampers. Braking was okay, but chronic little squeak on passengers front that I was never able to eliminate.

New pads are Hawk.

Soooooo. Here's the deal. I got four new dampers laying around here. My thought was to use them on the outside on each front caliper. Would you do that or inside, or leave them off altogether if I don't have a full set of eight? Is the outside or the inside pad more likely to move and squeak?

In addition, the Hawk pads have a extra backing plate. Is that a damper in itself? Where I just put their grease (that came with the pads) on, and forget the extra dampers?

I'm probably over thinking it, but I would like "best practice" suggestions.

Also, I'm torqueing calipers to steering knuckle at 63 ft. pounds with anti-seize, Sound correct?

What Hawk pads are you going to install?

Cross drilled rotors are prone to cracking (I've seen a few) and the new pad technology makes them irrelevant but they do look cool. Factory slotted rotors are more durable.

They do indeed look cool don't they.
I guess I will have to take a chance with durability.
Thoughts on the dampers? I was leaning towards leaving them off and putting them on if I get any noise.

Ok, the plate that fits on the back of the pad is definitely what I'm calling an integrated damper.

I'm leaving the extra stock dampers off, in fact I'm not sure I could get them on anyway, just loading the new pads and new rotors required putting the pistons flush with the caliper.

I just did mine like two weeks ago.
I had to tap/wedge the extra "shimmy" plates in. Yeah, I was wondering too. What purpose do they serve? None of the write-ups have them. Including Wayne's.

Test drive: no squeaky -squeaky.
Felt tight, that part might be mental.

Looks tough though.
I gotta be honest you guys, I know it's not the fastest car out there, or even the best, but you can make a convincing argument that the 928 is the coolest.
It's got style, but it's also got grit. It's taken everything over the years. Because of, or sometimes even in spite of, the work I've put into it. It remains a sturdy performance platform.

I was taking in the .1 versus.2 debate over on the 911 channel. At one point in the thread, I believe the point was raised that the .1 had more soul because it's paddles were more responsive........

Not trying to troll, just a different world.
Half of my attachment to my car is the fact that I can beat on it with a wrench.
